Estonia 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

Hello,

Is it possible to add the 1533 timer and not cut the wires to CAN so I could start the heater before I start the engine but keep the automatic systems running as well?

So far I know I have to update the cars soft but having done that were do I go from there?

You'll have to find the W-Bus wire from the FFBH and connect the W-Bus wire from 1533 to it.
And of course the +12V and GND. That's it!
The FFBH's W-Bus connection, which OEM is used for remote starting using a Telestart T91, is passing just above the Central Junction Box, behind the glove box. So it's easy to tap into it.
And don't forget to activate at the dealer the FFBH Remote Start. Otherwise it won't work.

I am working with a chap in north Norway to try and get around the CCF edit.

I just want to see if this is possible before he pulls his car apart to get access to the FBH in the inner wing.

I want to try the D3 route of using pin 2 and 1533 timer conecting wbus direct to pin 2.

Would this work, or do I need to get SDD out and "add" the accessories", Out of interest where is the connector for telestart on FR2, does the SDD allow switching from auxillary to parking heater in the CCF ? like I have seen in the BBS software.

Do you have any pictures of the connectors locations ?

Thanks

Glen

You wont be able to start it without activating it in the CCF file with the help of SDD.
In fact the SDD not only will modify the CCF, but it will update the firmware in several modules too.
This is why it wont work without using the SDD.
You can tap into the wire on the intermediate connector behind the glove box, as the wiring to the telestart receiver could be missing.
The end connector to the telestart receiver is in on the left hand side of the boot, just below the headliner. So again it will be a good idea to tap it into the glove box zone.

So there is no need to get access to the burner at all? Do you have a picture or something that shows the cable(w-bus?) that has to be tapped? I don't have the telestart part in my 2007. FL2, TD4 HSE

No, there is no need to access the burner directly.
Just tap into its wire.
You can find it just above the Central Junction Box, behind the glove box.
It's pin 24 in the C12H/C12G connector. Blue-white wire.

The pictures below, again courtesy of our Russian friends.

Great! Smile Thanks mr!
Am I correct in assuming that I can tap into both wire marked with 1 and 2 on this picture? FL2, TD4 HSE

Yes, you're right.
Wire no 2 is for sure there. Blue-white wire. It comes from the burner. It's pin 24.
Wire no 1, (also pin 24, but in the other connector) you may not have it, as it is the wire that goes in the boot at the burner's Telestart receiver. If installed from factory it is also in blue-white color.
In the picture it is yellow because the "aftermarket" installation of the Telestart T91 receiver, has the command wire (WBUS) in yellow color.

So if I understand you correctly, You apply w.bus to pin 24 to start the FBH.

So in theory it could be possible to use the 1533 timer to give the Wbus signal on pin 24 then, but it still needs activation via SDD to make this work ?

I dont have an FR2 FBH here, and it has a different part no to the D3 FBH in microcat.

On the D3 FBH you can diagnose via pin 2, using the thermotest software is the FR2 burner so different ?

Cheers

Glen

To summarize:
1. The dialog with the burner can be made via pin 24 on the connector above CJB as in the previous pictures.
2. You can use the ThermoTest software on the burner without problems.
3. Without activation you can diagnose the burner, view various parameters, clean errors, test different components, etc.
4. Without activation you cannot start the burner with anything. It will respond with a NACK (not acknowledge) at the start command no matter who sent it (1533, telestart, ThermoTest, etc).
5. The activation of "remote control" with the help of SDD will update the firmware in several modules.
6. After the activation you can also start the burner with a 1533 timer or a telestart module or ThermoTest program or anything that talks w-bus.

The burner on FL2 is a little less "independent" and more "close" to the car than on D3/4.
It takes some of the information for proper function via CAN from the car.
So, without activating with SDD (and changing the firmware in HVAC and CJB modules) the burner cant get those information and therefore it wont start. But the other parameters/functions can be read/used. Just not the start burner command.

Alex,

A very good summary.

Now how to make my SDD fly 600 km and do the enablements remotely.
