Oil Leak

After putting up with a minor oil leak for a couple of months, my 07 plate went in today for a check as leak was getting worse.

Just had call from dealer to say it's the main rear seal and it may have affected the clutch.

£1000 plus a few quid to correct!!!

I've had it from new, and it's only done 50K

Anyone else had anything similar?

Not heard of it on a FL2 but it's not an unusual problem. Doubt if you have any comeback against anyone unless you have extended warranty, and even then I'm not sure whether it covers oil seals - sometimes they don't.

Its over five hours to strip down and rebuild at the dealers. The latest charge where I live is £105 hour plus vat.
The crankshaft oil seal is about £7 give or take, its a joke aint it.
Their clutch kit is arround £160 then theres a new clutch release bearing, add another £68, then theres power steering fluid, gearbox oil to add.
If you need a new duel mass flywheel add another £330 plus vat. The flywheel has to be removed to get at the crankshaft oil seal then on replacement,8 new flywheel bolts will be fitted.

All fixed now, managed to squeeze some discount from them, so just under £900!!!

first major problem in almost 6 years, so maybe that's not too bad, it's just a big bill to stomach in one go!
