So your point is that premium brand Land Rover are no better than budget brand Kia? What do we pay all the extra money for? I thought it was to get a top quality product. At least Kia have the nuts to offer a 7 year warranty and I bet they don't have clutch failures after a paltry 20K miles either. |

This has nothing to do with quality and confidence in the product and everything to do with marketing,

They might offer 7 years warranty but it took Kia 6 months to provide a new dashboard when I had my old one off road waiting for it, new Sportage looks nice enough if your into that sort of thing

There are lots of examples on tinternet where Kia UK have tried to get out of warranty claims.

What have I been doing to mine? Driving it, on the road. Lots of people on here with failed clutches at low mileage. I used to have a 'rubbish', but in hindsight, very good, Citroen ZX which we scrapped against the none too reliable FL2. It had 149,000 miles on the clock and was still on its first clutch. Oh, and the gear stick never squeaked, and no trim ever fell off it, and it didn't cost £350 quid for brake pads and it was only just showing minor signs of rust under the bonnet after 15 years, not 3. Wish we'd kept it and saved a packet. Could've spent it on lots of holidays instead, as opposed to spending it on regular visits to the LR dealer to get my car fixed. Anyway, glad yours is okay. I did buy mine to support the British motor industry but unfortunately, they let me down and as for getting out of warranty claims, I reckon LR are past masters at this based on some of the problems discussed on this forum. I bought my LR having really liked them since I was a kid, but not having had the money until now. Guess the reality doesn't always live up to the dream. I now have a car which will cost too much to change and that has been less than reliable. Not looking forward to ownership over the next few years, it's gonna be expensive. |

Really? You shoot from the hip my friend. Read this http://www.kiaownersclub.co.uk/forum/clutc...c9016.html Then this; http://www.kiaownersclub.co.uk/forum/i-new...c7391.html Even this; http://www.kiaownersclub.co.uk/forum/clutc...c5637.html I could go on. Yep, Kia has just the same problems. All VM's with DMF's fitted have failures. It's not just L/R. I think you're being a bit unfair to L/R. The big difference is that L/R fixed mine without quibble and fuss free. Seems not always the case with Kia. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice. |

Mmmmm, maybe a bit unfair, but Kia's are cheaper aren't they? But then I haven't checked this so don't hold me to it. The thing that bugs me is that I paid a lot of money for a car which has been unreliable and I can only see big bills ahead if this unreliability continues post warranty. Perhaps if I look round a few scrap yards I might find my old Citroen..... |

You might want to check if your old Citroen is still taxed here:

Everything Korean is cheaper, they employ slave labour, or the Chinese to manufacture parts.
