Noticed that the black 'paint' on the rear exhaust box (that is horizontal under tailgate )is coming off
Is this normal ? Whilst don't think it will have any impact on operation of Vehicle - it doesn't 'look good'

Mine is doing the same, box in stainless steel so the paint is purely cosmetic.

It's one of those new apprentice first day jobs, the ones who query painting stainless go on to be managers, the others stay on the line

Yes mine is the same,i got some paint off a shopping channel ... I know i know ... But it does seem to work on my Rav4,its been on 2 years now and looks rock solid,paint is by Flag Paints and also converts rust.Please note when dry the paint is matt black.

Same for me too. 6 months old and noticed a few days ago. I can live with it and over spray periodically, but it seems a bit naff?

are you sure the box is stainless as mine does show some signs of rust near the seam and my paint is also comming off  rainy-city

The exhaust should be stainless steel, the paint on the box is pretty crap.
I forget the name of it but go online and look up heat resitant paint for log burning fires etc etc. The max temp will far exceed the temp of the tail pipe and will work well.

Try an aerosol barbeque paint. Prices range from around £4 to £10. Some motorcycle restorers use it on the cylinders of aircooled bikes & report good results.
