Halfords Brand Ford Engine Oil

Anyone know who makes Halfords Brand Ford spec (M913B or something like that) engine oil?

I used the Halfords Semi Synthetic 5W30 for the last oil change because I couldn't find an alternative locally (normally change the oil every 6 - 7.5K).

A few years ago a mechanic told me to go by the spec and not the name. Interested to read your opinions on that.

Chris

Pretty sure Comma Oils supply all Halfords oils.

Its not the name that matters but the correct blend of oil.different engines are tested to see which performs the best for that engine and is then graded

Comma, Tetrosyl and others make oil for a range of own brand suppliers.
Often the formula is down to the brand - is brand X will have a different formulation to brand Y, even though both have come from the same factory. Both will use the same base oil. It's the improvers and the know how you are paying for.

Same goes for gearbox oil, screen wash, antifreeze.

Screen wash is a typical example, One brands "concentrated" screen wash will actually be more diluted than another brands "ready to use" screen wash, both using the same base chemicals. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
