Asylum Seekers

What I would like to know is why they always want to seek said asylum in this country?

Because we are the biggest softest touch in the world.
We welcome them with open arms and offer them legal aid and housing and free NHS all at a cost to ourselves.

we should have strict policies like most other countries and a strong vetting system and we need far more staff at the tunnel.

I have spent years going to & fro through the tunnel and beg the question why are there so many coaches loaded with people coming through during the night and overloaded cars bulging with families with foreign plates !
Shouldn't everyone be checked ?
Fair play to one and all but we must have the proper checks in place.

I feel truly sorry for genuine asylum seekers and really feel we ought to look with forgiveness on those who arrive by plane from their country of origin.

However, any of the folk who come in by land should be repatriated immediately to the first European country they passed through. Once they arrive in Europe (until the Muslims take over, of course) they are safe. They need go no further and if they come here it must be for economic reasons only. Get rid. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Question

Strangely enough, no one goes to Russia? Probably because they would get trodden on upon arrival.

There was a program on tv a couple of years ago about UK border control welcoming the asylum seekers in telling them dont worry we will look after you, give you lots of money and your own house to live in, welcome!
They wouldnt get that anywhere else thats why.

Oh yes, and if they don't get what they want, they get free legal representation to make sure their rights are protected.

I think we have to discriminate between genuine refugees who we, as a civilised country, have a chance to help and the 'economic migrant' who sees this country as , as has been mentioned a soft touch.
Our membership of the EU is now becoming a mixed blessing. I was very much in favour of it (stability, peacable trading, friendship etc) but it's rapidly spun out of control and many people now believe it is not a force for our benefit especially since EU law seems to take precedence over national laws. That must be limited. And the ability of workers to come & go freely across EU borders has its downsides.
Me? I'd be rigorous where needed. Ruthless even in chucking out parasites, trouble makers, scroungers but welcoming to those who come here in dire straits and (AND) are willing to contribute. Many do. We should accept them. Many don't. We should boot them out. ...

Be true to yourself. That way happiness lies...

it ws an asylum seeker from africa that killed a 19yr old girl on the m62 early sunday morning driving the wrong side of the motorway and over the d/d limit i would lock him up for five years and then deport him on the first avalable transport out of the uk as for any argument for his human rights what rights does the dead girl have now Question any one who is claming asylum in the uk that commits any crime should be sent back to where they came from straight awy after serving there sentance Thumbs Up rainy-city

I know it's a bit wide of the topic but I really think we should get out of the EU right now. We're the third largest contributor to this politically-correct corrupt mess and it's time we stopped wasting our money.

Throughout UK's history we have profitably traded with the whole world. At the moment the emerging markets are in the east and the whole of Europe is stagnant trading-wise. Why are we so insistent on staying in the political union? It does us no favours with the US and is irrelevant to the far eastern markets we should be encouraging.

We're very short of funds in the UK currently. Why, then, are we contributing to foreign aid and interfering European bureaucrats? The European budget is so corrupt that even their own "auditors" won't sign off the accounts; they've ruined our fishing industry and don't even like us! Get us out now! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Very good article. The key issue being that just pouring money on a problem never works. Applies to this country as well. Instead of benefits, able bodied people should be enrolled in state funded work programmes. If they won't work, no benefits. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech
