United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Santorini Black
Sat nav frozen

Can anyone give me a solution or tell me of a company who can resolve my sat nav problem please.

Bought my Freelander 2 recently and it had 2006 sat nav discs. Thought I would buy the latest discs from ebay. Bought it for £80, looked ok, but when I tried to load it the system froze. All I can do with it is change the settings but cannot use the sat nav as its frozen in all other aspects.
Took it to main dealer who spent several hours with it and could not do anything. They could only suggest buy new sat nav reader @ £1000.
Have looked on ebay for replacement but my model is not there.
Any help gratefully received.

Apart from that its a great car.
Dennis

sounds like its going to have to do a large update, from 2006 to 2012-13 on the software

I assume the satnav button is greyed out and will not allow you to push it, perfectly normal whilst its updating, others have had this happen on here also

i believe the way round it is to drive around and eventually it comes back on and is updated, but i would try and make sure the disc is perfectly clean too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks for that info. But the sat nav has been like that for several weeks now and it still sits there with the button greyed out ( well, with a line across it barring access ).

i believe they say a long drive is required, and this sorted other whose update jammed

i assume thats to allow a continuous update and giving longer time to do it, i have read others going from 2006 to 2012 taking ages, and others going from 2010 to 2011 taking no time at all

so the amount of updates/patches it might need will take time

obviously there is another options and the disc you bought is a dud or could be dirty

If you don't want to drive around, I guess a battery charger and the ignition on as the update require would do the same, as i believe systems could shut down if the battery gets low Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks Martin, worth a shot going for a long drive.
Forgot to mention that the discs were copied from an original, didn't know that when I bought it. When I compared the new discs with my bona fide copy, I could see the difference. Got my money back from the seller but now this problem.
Thanks
Dennis

Others might be along to offer advice, so stick around and see if other answers come along

obviously a copied disc maybe the reason then
