Not long ago my old FL1 was in for a service and a minor repair but they kept it for about a week and I got a MY10 manual FL2 as a courtesy car.

Both tanks have a stated capacity of 68 litres.

It was more the fill up cost than MPG that confused me. Price of fuel is the same as near as makes no difference and the £70 almost filled the SD4 which it failed to do in the MY10 manual courtesy car.

The computer works on the mpg average. So if you have been doing 40mpg on a longer run it will at first show a longer available distance than if you've been doing 27mpg in town (more likely on a loan car). If you reset the computer to zero, you will find the distance remaining will usually go UP as the engine warms up and mpg average increases. Also, the computer can take a while to settle down after a fill up, with the mpg varying quite drastically (I once managed to hit 100mpg average!) and the available distance will vary accordingly. It's NOT a measure of fuel in tank, just of how long the computer "thinks" you can travel in your current driving style.

Yep was going to echo the same, probably driving style, especially if you are not use to the auto. Also it might of been a 2wd version so possibly even better mpg.

Shame it doesn't stay like that or I would have a 3000 mile range, would be very handy indeed!! |
