Right, who can come up with the daftest idea to test?

I propose a balloon with fishing line attached, after a while the line will be pulled, it will slide through the door seal, once tight against the door it should burst.

Off to Asda for balloons Laughing

If I leave sunroof open at home and double lock it, wind etc is sufficient to set off alarm. Now got into habit of single lock if I'm home just for a short while on a hot day.

That is contary to what the handbook says, is states that if it senses a window or sunroof open it will not set that part of the alarm Question

Just been checking the alarm again. On 1st and 2nd press of the fob,the alarm is working, opened the bonnet and in both alarm modes it go's off it's just not detecting movement or I'm doing something wrong in checking for movement.

Forgot about this post until I was reminded today.
So thanks to them Thumbs Up
My alarm did sound with dogs in the back; this was some time ago, but i'd left the rear windows open.
This was in double lock. No idea at the time whether it was the dogs or open window that caused it.
I thought nothing of it at the time.
Just tried the double lock alarm, window closed and open, waved my arms about inside the car like Arsene Wenger, nothing.
MMmm.
Next, i'll try parking in a layby on a dual carrigeway and double lock with the windows open and closed to see if the heavies going past will trigger the alarm.
I'm bound to get arrested Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Don't have a problem at all with the single or double lock security features on her Ladyship's FL2. They have never worked in accordance with the Owner's Manual since day one.

Each and every time I have demonstrated this to the Swiss LR specialists they tell me they will reprogrammed the system and yes, upon collection of the vehicle they have always pronounced that it's all okay now. So I test the lockin/opening functions with the fobs (yes both key fobs) in front of them and low and behold it doesn't function as described.

Their response: we'll look at it again when we've more time. And they have, again and again and again. It's been nearly 3yrs now Banging Head

Did anyone see watchdog last night, looks like the BMW cars from 2006 to 2011 have a worst security system than Land Rover. You don't even need to have the owners keys to take it.

Much as I hate to say it I suspect the same will apply to most if not all newish cars with computerised systems and connection point. All it will take is a variation of the monitor tool used by most garages loaded with the either a legitimate copy of the software or a knock off version.

It is probably only the £6k cost of the tool that prevents this being a more prevalent crime and that will change when someone finds how to load the software onto an Ipad or Android tablet and can make or buy the appropriate cable to plug into the car.

I think your right snowy22255. if you read this post that I started I found my alarm is not working as it should from having a broken window plus a couple of others have reported this fault.
Going to have to dig out my old Halfords big yellow steering wheel lock from the shed.

I can't double lock mine and leave the dog in it to pop in a shop quickly otherwise it will go off. Everytime. Single lock, no problems leaving the dog in there. Thumbs Up
