Collected today

Well collected today and am very happy with it.
Got the wife a 2011 landrover freelander 2 XS got it for a good price from a dealer.
But had to recleaned it when I got home. Why can dealers never clean cars properly ?

Anyway my conclusions. The 2 dealers I visited both had the same characteristics, with the exception of the sales guy that sold me the car. They are all pompous and have a real air of arrogance. I really didn't like the feel of the dealerships.
My local one wouldn't even speak to me on the first visit. Myself and my wife went in in our "garden" car (Peugeot 207 sw 09/09) and was totally ignored, we then went back the following day in a differnet car. We went in the showroom and was greater by a receptionist who advised a sales person would be with us shortly, we sat in a freelander 2 in the showroom and had a good look over it, twice the sales person walked past and still nothing, we then left. Went back this saturday to view a identical XS to what we have now purchased, to be fair the sales guys were busy and the receptionist opened the vehicle for us, Its what we wanted so left our number for a call back ......... Im still waiting now for that call.

Emailed another dealer who had the identical car and got a response, within 20 mins. A few emails backhand forth and the deal was done! I can't speak highly enough of the sales guy.
Went to collect the car yesterday and had a pleasant hand over however apart from the sales guy not one other suit acknowledge us or even said good morning. Now im not asking for people to kiss arse, infant I'm the most down to earth buyer, hell we didn't even drive a freelander before buying ! But just common courtesy would have been nice.

Anyway the sales guy was brill, so I'm going to write to the DP and let him know how good I feel he was.

The car .... As I say it was a pleasure driving home, if I had one criticism the steering is too light at motorway speen, apart from that its a nice car to be in and bigger than I thought. We now have to have new garage doors to get it in lol.

So to sum it up.... Love the car, don't like the first impression of the dealers. I will give the service department a chance, if that's not a happy experience I will go to the local specialist who is fully landrover trained.

Hope you both enjoy the experience and it remains trouble free Thumbs Up

Unfortunately you echo the thoughts of most on here, and that is that dealers and their staff are disinterested, smug, arrogant and aloof. Where you score in one department is let down by another in the same dealership, but on saying that there are a few good ones out there, especially if they don't start with 'S' and end in 'E'.

Its not that I'm even difficult. I just want someone helpful to offer a bit of there experience of the product.
I didn't get it ..... I didn't drive it I got most of my information from here and the only website of landrover.

I really shouldn't have purchased on the dealer experience, but I did Embarassed

I have used Colchester lookers now for 3 years and have been unable to fault the sales or service team. It looks like I am one of the lucky ones as you here many horror stories about the dealerships.

Makes no difference. I got better service buying a £3.00 bag of screws on the way home from collecting it.

If they don't talk to me they don't know if I want a freelander or ranger rover Rolling Eyes

customer service has gone out of the window nowadays, when I go to the local DIY store I have to use the express 'self serve; checkout - you dont even get a cashier anymore to smile at you as they take your money.

I had the same problem at the old Chester dealers. They are now hunters, totally ignored and sales staff disinterested..So i went and got a car from hunters in Southampton and the service was a breath of fresh air..Spending the sort of money we do you would expect better service if they want to keep the customer..
