Steep Boat Ramps

If any boaters are here, I have a question regarding boat ramps.

Basically, I'm wondering if the "regular" driving setting is best for towing a trailer (with a boat on it) up a ramp, or if it might be better to use the Terrain Response to select a more optimal setting. For example, I know sand mode will lock the center differential and provide 50/50 power, which might provide more traction while trying to get up a steep and presumably slippery ramp.

Are there any opinions on this? Thanks! CAR HISTORY

I have no experience in towing anything, but I would say that Sand setting is too aggressive for your needs.

I would use the Grass, Gravel & Snow setting myself. Purely because a slippery ramp would be just like wet grass uphill and you need as much grip as possible - this TR setting uses traction control, lots of torque at stand-still and it dampens the throttle response for maximum grip.

If you're just towing the boat along on the roads, then I would choose the normal drive setting.

... of course others may have another opinion.

Thanks guys!

Also -- no center diff? Would Motor Trend steer me wrong?

Switch to the farthest right position, and a desert-rock icon appears on the information screen and the transmission will hold gears longer than normal or as you select in SportShift mode, with the traction control set aggressively. It assumes you’re in some serious slow-motion, low-traction situation and need the added control. It’ll also lock the center differential to provide maximum torque to the front and rear driveshafts.

Grass/Gravel and Snow as it ups the sensitivity to traction loss, but normal driving mode would be adequate unless its really steep and slippery, and then your tyres would have to play a greater part.
Centre diff is a play on words here and shouldn't really be used. The FL2 has a 'Haldex' unit and is placed between the prop shaft and the rear diff, this electronic/hydraulic unit is a 'wet clutch' system that will vary torque/drive to the rear on demand.

I use grass gravel and snow mode or regular depends if it's a gravel slip or a concrete one.
