Any gut feel on this one? Does it look like I should just wait for another one?

I think it has to be put in context. There are very few s/h FL2s available in Malaysia, so there is little choice; Malay roads are likely to be varied with plenty of rural/rough/offroad journeys, so a "rough" life may be inevitable (Awas! Jalan Perhanan Perhanan ); At least there appears to be a FSH, with records of previous repairs/replacements; main negative for me is the short warranty - Sept 2012. Not taking much of a risk are they? Or does this reflect normal warranties in South East Asia? Only you will know local conditions. If the price seems right and the dealer has a good reputation you may have found a good one! Have you tried Singapore? 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Apache and Iain, the "right money" has to be put into local context - here there is a 300% import tariff on anything produced outside South East Asia. Its going for just above book value, but in sterling that's about 36,000! It's been well kept and from what I can see has had a pampered life. Never off-road, and not a scratch anywhere. Interior as new bar a few scuffs on along the pen-holder. No scratches on side of the driver's leather seat either. Fitted with roof rails and black tube steps (which I'd rather not have). No rattles except the occasional clunk from the rear luggage cover. Only one owner. Dunroof, so you think its not too bad a service list . dunkley 201 - Terimakasih kawan! Your Malay betrays some time spent in these parts, maybe? The warranty is part of the original 3-year landrover warranty. Used car dealers typically give a 1 month warranty here (what a joke!). Actually the roads around Kuala Lumpur are very good, mostly smooth expressways, and I doubt this car has been too far into the country side. Importing a car from Singapore is un-do-able since you need to be a top crony to get an import permit. And if I wait, it could be six months before I see another. Sounds like I'm making a strong case for myself!

good luck Widgy, if the dealer sorts out the bits and pieces for you I'm sure you will enjoy your FL2.

Ian, thanks for the boost! dunkley201 - that's ages ago - most would not have remembered a word of Malay, let alone "dialu-alukan" - Impressive I was in Singapore 76-80. If you haven't been back all these years you wouldn't recognise it now!
