Alloy Wheel Cleaning

I have gone through some of the market leaders in Alloy Wheel Cleaning

Auto Glym, Meguires, P21S Gel, wonder wheels

Out of them all i found the P21s the best its non Acidic smells like s Censored t but works great

Its also used by the chap who charges £5k for a car wash and polish Shocked

But can't i find it in bulk over here in the UK, everywhere sell it in 500ml for £13.99 but if i can get hold of it in bulk 5L bottle its cheaper at about £65

Anybody come across anywhere that sells it in 5L in the UK Question

Cheers Dave

I should have said it was the RED Gel as this sticks the the wheels better and doesn't run off them

I got my last 500ml bottle from them, cheapest i have seen, so far, there is some of the 5L bottle on eBay but they are in Germany and the P&P shoots the price up

Saying that its a lot cheaper than buying by the 500ml Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi,

Rumour has it that the cheapest place to buy this stuff is from Porsche, apparently it what they label as their own brand wheel cleaner.

Regards

You could save a lot of elbow grease (and money ) if you seal the wheels after you clean them.
I've used 'wheel shield' for some time now (check http://www.gbdriver.co.uk ) and as it says, you just need to wipe them with a damp cloth each time. It lasts up to 12 months. I recently bought a tub of the 'poorboy's' wheel sealant so when it's time to apply it again in a couple of months, i'll do 2 wheels with 'wheel shield' and the other 2 with 'poorboy's' to see which performs best. The 'wheel shield' is a breeze to apply though. Spray on, have a dram, 20 mins later re-fit wheel, remove next wheel, clean, spray, have a dram... Out with the old (2007 SE)
In with the new (2012 Dynamic with everything). Now also gone.

CLEAN WHEELS

Buy a cheap pressure washer(Bosch £39 on ebay) and blast the wheels weekly-even if you don't wash the car at the same time.It will save you a fortune in expensive wheel cleaners and eventually pay for itself! Also a lot of these cleaners are acid based and can ruin the paint if left on too long. You can also clean the back of the wheels with the pressure washer without removing them. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

Well, my first post as I get my FL2 HSE (Stornoway Grey) next week. I have had many sports cars over the years and have just sold my Porsche Cayman S due to a lifestyle change to get the FL2 - check out my website www.cbhughes.com and click on TTC546/Life of TTC546.

Most Porsche and Audi owners know of a dirt-cheap cleaner solution that is made of competely natural ingredients that works fantastically well on alloys. I've been using it for years and its the doggies danglies. Its called VirosSol and available here: - http://www.cloverchem.co.uk/uk/products/hard_virosol_uk.htm . Pour it into a used up spray bottle and spray over the wheels. Agitate the wheels with a wheel brush and jet-wash off. Cleans in seconds at a fraction of the price of so-called Wheel Cleaners.

More hot tips later!

Had the wheels on both my Freelander 1 and 2 treated when new with Metalmate. This makes cleaning the wheels very easy: all the brake dust, etc. washes off with a sponge and wheel brush. You get a couple of bottles to reapply to the wheels every year or so although I've never done this and still found the wheels very easy to clean. Cost me £30 to have four wheels done at Strastone in Bury.
