United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Bali Blue
Sat in an Ewok

Had my first sit in a 3 door Evoque today - what a disappointment!!!!

Whilst the seats and dash are nice the windscreen was too narrow (as the FL2 windscreen is more upright) thus restricting forward visibility, it felt very claustrophobic with the narrow side windows despite having a panoramic roof and the rear visibility was shockingly poor. Also sat much lower than I thought I would be in a 4x4 (when I got back in my FL2 I felt like I had stepped into a FFRR the height difference was massive!) and also managed to bang my head trying to get out.

Was considering the 5 door Evoque next when I change in 2014 but dont think I will be now.

A triumph of fashion over function !!!

I find it amazing that a company that has produced the Defender and D1/2/3/4 can come up with the EWOK Shocked Now: 2012 FL2 SD4 XS Orkney Grey

I felt the same when I sat in one at Goodwood last year.

I have to agree, I have only sat in one but it put me off completely. I chose a Freelander because I didn't want a car, all the positives of a Freelander has been lost in the Evoque with the exception of the dash.

Sorry, I don't think it's a triumph of anything except marketing. I think it's ugly and impractical, with poor headroom and awful visibility. As for a two wheel drive Land Rover Big Cry Big Cry

I fear that you might be overlooking what the Evoque is all about.

As a replacement for a Freelander, while it's still highly capable of road, it's hugely compromised for style. But, as an alternative to a MINI, a TT, a Golf GTI, an Audi A3 or a BMW 3 Series, it's hugely more desirable than any of them.

It may not be for us, but I'm glad that they're selling shed loads of them to people who may never have even gone close to a LR showroom before Thumbs Up

If that's who is buying it, I shall look forward to being tailgated, cut up and near "head ons" by the Evoque.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Narvik Black

Companies need to evolve to survive and in my opinion the evoke is an excellent example of where a car manufacturer has evolved without completely loosing its roots...

Much like the mini - another classic example of success bread from a company who's strap line was all about rear wheel drive and 50/50 balance.

Whilst it might not suit everyone - it seams to me like Landrover now have a great line up the suits most people's needs

I for one like the evoke - ill be the first to admit it is not the most practical and unfortunately for me it probably won't fit my family but had that be not an issue I think I would snap one up in a shot.. Instead I'll take the fl2 or the d4 thank you! Win win for LR Whistle Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints
