I like to think the banter with CG is a bit of leg pulling Thumbs Up

I feel sorry for the vanners hit by the weather and hope nobody got hurt - must be terrifying waking in the night surrounded by water and seeing the destruction around you Sad

I wonder what people with caravans did to make you "dislike" them so much Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Yes I feel sorry for them. As claiming on insurance is a pain in the arse for anything. It's all good banter

Just outside of saundersfoot.

I guess they should of left him and made an insurance claim because he had a caravan and deserved it Thud

A couple I have known for years and holidayed with went away a few years ago and got caught by flash flooding abroad - the husband survived but his wife drowned and both our families have never got over the loss but guess I need to lighten up eh Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Oh yes and let's all rent holiday cottages, paying inflated prices for week ends away, forcing up the property prices so the young locals who have only got farming for a pay packet are priced out of the equation because all the local cottages have been bought up by the local landlords, yep the way to go Thumbs Up Rolling Eyes

My position on caravans is public knowledge on this site so I don't wish to add anything else to this thread in that direction, but would just like to comment on the above.

I agree entirely with some of ad210358's sentiments on affordable rural housing for local families. Distressingly, all government policy (Labour, Conservative and Coalition) over the past 40yrs since Mr&Mrs UK became leisurely mobile has failed to provide a permanent solution to this challenge, despite the answer being simple and within cross-party grasp.

Legislate to prevent "housing" stock of any kind (rural, urban, coastal) being owned & used by corporations or private individuals as a business. Provide a 5yr grace period for present owners to sell-off their Rachmanian estates, thereafter such assets to be compulsory purchased by local authorities for immediate resale to local inhabitants. The fine details of such a plan could be concluded within a parliament's sitting given goodwill by all member's of both Houses.

In a society where there is a clear and acknowledged shortage of not only housing stock (mostly caused by the selfish gathering/hoarding habits of others) but land to build upon as well in the small isle of Britain; it is a reprehensible practise to own more than two properties and to seek fiscal gain by removing housing stock from the grasp of those on lower incomes so desperate to enjoy home ownership.
