Yes I feel sorry for them. As claiming on insurance is a pain in the arse for anything. It's all good banter

My position on caravans is public knowledge on this site so I don't wish to add anything else to this thread in that direction, but would just like to comment on the above. I agree entirely with some of ad210358's sentiments on affordable rural housing for local families. Distressingly, all government policy (Labour, Conservative and Coalition) over the past 40yrs since Mr&Mrs UK became leisurely mobile has failed to provide a permanent solution to this challenge, despite the answer being simple and within cross-party grasp. Legislate to prevent "housing" stock of any kind (rural, urban, coastal) being owned & used by corporations or private individuals as a business. Provide a 5yr grace period for present owners to sell-off their Rachmanian estates, thereafter such assets to be compulsory purchased by local authorities for immediate resale to local inhabitants. The fine details of such a plan could be concluded within a parliament's sitting given goodwill by all member's of both Houses. In a society where there is a clear and acknowledged shortage of not only housing stock (mostly caused by the selfish gathering/hoarding habits of others) but land to build upon as well in the small isle of Britain; it is a reprehensible practise to own more than two properties and to seek fiscal gain by removing housing stock from the grasp of those on lower incomes so desperate to enjoy home ownership. |
