No experience of Auto Protect but, from experience with Warranty Direct, beware of any company that expects you to pay first and then attempt to claim your money back. Would you be happy to pay £6000 for a replacement engine, on the basis that your insurer might pay out? |

Selling Auto Protect's extended warranties, from the dealer's point of view:

I think the LR extended warranty is very expensive. My BMW 3 series cost 80% more than our FL2 but the extended warranty with recovery is £200 cheaper, and if you think LR dealers are expensive you should try a BMW one

I beg to differ - I've always had really reasonable treatment from my local BMW dealer and with a bit of haggling all my services on a 6 pot petrol have come in either the same or cheaper than my LR. And my previous BM had the service pack which includes everything for free (even brakes) for 5 yrs - just brilliant!

Be very careful about extended warrantees and what they actually cover, I can't stress this enough. I had a Kia Sorento and took out an extended warrantee via Kia suggesting a recommended company, not their own.

On the positive side, my wife's Peugeot 307cc is now five years old and still covered by Peugeot's extended warranty. Last week was MOT time and under warranty they replaced a bottom ball joint (slack but not an MOT fail), a gearbox driveshaft oil seal (again not an MOT fail) and the DPF fluid tank all without fuss or question. In all about £600s worth.
