What TR Setting For Wading

Having posted on both ORC1s topic on TR and PepperPots on wading I am still in a quandry as to which setting to use for 'deep' wading. I have always been surprised at the power sapping quality of pushing a slab of water in frt of you to create and maintain the bow wave but also taking into account traction. I am in favour of sand setting, anybody who changes my view wins a Mars bar. still pining for my 3dr, no removeable hardtop, no drop glass tailgate, no roof rack, no pockets everywhere to stow all that man kit

Im a coward I choose the go round the flood setting. although I once drove my defender thru flood water so deep that I thought water had fused the headlights, turned out it was the bow wave of dirty water obsuring the light from them.

If you go by the book then you should use the setting that suits the material on the bed..........don't think I get a mars bar for that do I?

I agree with Gambba - use the setting for whatever is on the bed - if you can tell what that is.

And Chicken George has reminded of a time (more that 25 years ago) when I took this Landcruiser through a flood so deep that the pedals were under water, and the timber I had in the tray was floating! The depth was such that the lights would definitely have been under water. When it got shallower I got out and took this photo (after all, my feet were wet anyway!).

That was when 4x4's were tough as old boots and had nothing youy couldn't fix yourself, but also you didn't care if the footwells were flowing with water.

I would hate to think of water in my footwells on my LR2.......can't even stand dust on bonnet! Rolling with laughter

he he, don't worry its a ford ranger not a landy. I will give her a good spring clean soon. But then the idiot dog jumps all over the seats again Banging Head

The time spent washing it will be a lot more useful than any time spent caravan shopping.
