Door seals

Last week when removing a parcel off the back (Drivers side) seat, I happened to notice that the door seal (Not the one on the actual car door, but the seal that surrounds the door aperture) had developed a distinct "wave" along the top. The actual rubber seal was moving away from the body framework. The same was happening to all door seals.

Took my 10MY in for it's 2nd service yesterday. Mentioned it when I arrived there.

All 4 door seals are being replaced under warranty. Taking it back next week for fitting.

So, anyone with a Freely that's still under warranty check the door seals.

On my car one rear door only. It's not the main body opening seal but a narrow stuck on one on the right of the photo, mine has started to detach itself and deform, no big deal until I have to go to the dealer next.

Question Have tried punching it back up with the back of your hand or fist, i'm sure they fit into a groove around the door frame a bit like how the wheel arch rubbers fit into position.

Yes, I've pushed them back into the original position, but after a couple of days they distort again.

My initial thoughts are that the seals are slightly over-sized, hence the distortion.

They wont be oversize, you have to make sure they are knocked on well into the corners first as that is where they are likely to pull away to begin with if anywhere, use a rubber mallet.

Replace rear door body seal

New here so please excuse any naivety!

Looks like I've got to replace the nearside rear body door seal on my just-acquired FL2 as it looks like a dog has chewed it!

If anyone has done this - replaced one not chewed it! - and can provide any pointers then most appreciated.

Seems the original part no. is LR001631? A few breakers list them but is it really worth having a used one?

Thanks.

Pull the old one off, line up the new one so the centre gripper part is over the body seam, then push the new one on working your way around the frame, easy.
It's literally a 2 minute job to change the door seal. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thankyou Nodge - easy change as you said. I bought a new old stock seal from ebay for little more than scrappers were selling them for.

I have just replaced my drivers door on body, not door, seal. £50!
Free next day delivery, if you are a prime member.

Do a search on Amazon for Door Weatherstrip Seal Replacement For Freelander MK2 2006-2014 (on body) LR001630.

You will need an hacksaw to cut to length as there is some internal steel wire to cut.
Use a large Rolling with laughter rubber hammer you will know its located as the tone changes.
