Just fitted some mudflaps to the car so was crawling around on the floor and noticed that there was no stone protection stuff (used to be called underseal ) along the sills and along the fuel lines and around the suspension pickup points. The only place that has some is on the footwells . is this normal? VULCAN XH558 - Cold war warrior lives on !

yes perfectly normal i asked the question on a factory tour and was told that the steel has an anti corrosive coating and there is no under seal applied i put some clear under body protection wax on mine like wax oil clear etc  rainy-city

One of the things that used to be done to prepare Escorts for rallying was to remove the underseal to save a useful amount of weight (yes, really!)

Now that cars just don't rust like they used to it's probably not a bad idea.
