Traded it in this afternoon. They gave me £24,000! This car cost us £34,000 1 year ago.

According to LR sales statistics sales of Freelander 2 are holding up well and the majority of Evoque sales are to customers new to the LR/RR brand. The majority of Freelander 2 owners I've met wouldn't be seen in an Evqoue. Trade in prices are nearly always lower at this time of year, particularly for 4x4's when the best time to sell them is late Autumn.

I recently traded in my 2007 FL2 GS manual with 45K miles + scratches and dent on wheel arch and got £10K. I only paid £21K when it was new. So it doesnt appear the bottom has fallen out of the market this week at least. |

I really don't have a problem with dealers making a profit. They have big overheads and do generally offer a premium level of service over buying privately.

I know it's not what you meant npinks, but it may comes across as it seems to suggest "Profit from VAT" so just to clarify for any reader: Motor Traders, or indeed any legally operating VAT registered business does NOT make a profit out of collecting VAT and transferring that tax to HM Treasury. If they do they are trading illegally and subject to criminal prosecution. Fraud. |
