Mt Coree is an aboriginal name. Whoever named Flea Creek must have had a bad insect problem at the time and Mcintyres Hut is exactly what it says, a fellow named Mcintyre built a little hut in the bush next to the river last century...er that would be 2 centuries ago in he 1800's. The hut is still there and maintained as a refuge place for anyone getting stuck in the weather. All inside the Brindabella National Park (aboriginal name again), where there are very bad bush fires in the summer and it snows a lot in the winter. The Brindabella Ranges provide a very scenic backdrop to Canberra.

My part of the World (well it use to be!). I know Fingeringhoe well Just not heard of Dancing Dicks though - thankfully! My fave at the moment is a town called "Muff" in Ireland... I'm even a fan of the Muff Diving Club on Facebook |

HI Mike. I'm planning another camping trip into the Snowy Mountains again this winter and if I can get enough time off, I would love to take a few side trips. Hence, I might get in touch beforehand for a few tips on where to go. This will be the 2nd time I'll take the small caravan as the camper trailer just shook too much in the wild winds that sweep off the mountains thru the valleys where the camp sites are. The van burns up a lot more fuel on the tow compared to the CT but the added comfort when the temperatures dip below -5C make it worth it. |

No worries. You would really feel the cold coming down from Fraser Island way. We have visitors from Queensland and they think Sydney is cold |
