If depreciation worrys you then buy a 2-3 year old car and change it every couple of years. I bought my partner an 18 month old Fiesta a couple of years ago, £13.5K new and paid £6,500 for it! Two years on and still worth 4.5K as p/x or 5.5K private sale. |

If you bought it and stuck it in a carcoon for 20 years and never used it, still as new with zero miles, you would get your money back, it would be the only one left and still have its original clutch and flywheel, |

I actually paid £21k new as it was when dealers were willing to do anything for a sale. A private sale at £17k would see me lose 4k over three years.
