Dog crate advice

I am Thinking about purchasing a dog crate instead of the usual dog guard , as I require to have some storage in the boot still that would be separate from my dog, I also think with the style of rear door that the freelander has this option will be safer too as my dog (a hyper springer!) cannot try to commit suicide as easy Laughing

Are any members using one of these and are they pleased with them??

Thanks in advance Bow down Thumbs Up

Hi WB

I have one of these Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
http://www.transk9.com/index.php/dog_cage/...er_2_2007/

Can't coment on the other 2 above, but this is a bombproof create, expensive yes but it provides loads of room for your springer (we have one as well) and also gives you some storage as well, the centre divider can be removed as well

They also do a single create as well

Think they are site sponsors on the Disco 3 site, so might be worth giving them a ring

Hi WB,

I went for the cheaper option. (being a Yorkshire man) We had a rectangular cage which we had for use indoors when she was a pup. It also used to fit long ways across the boot, but took up all of the boot space. Cue the 'A - Team' music - a hacksaw & an hour later... one custom fit cage. It only takes up half of the boot. Fits right to the back of the seats. Just need the loadspace cover removed. It also still folds (fairly) flat. ( approx 2" high) Cage was about £40.

Oh no! Shocked You mean there are Springers and there are Hyper Springers; I've had Border Collies for the last 20 years and even I have no idea where I'd start with one of those... Shocked Rolling Eyes Laughing

I have used a Lintran box for years light and easy to clean and my springer knows he is off shooting when he sees me move it ( he sleeps in it in the house )

Hiya, another vote for the Trans K9. Thumbs Up

Although expensive they quite simply are the best you can buy. I used one in a Megane Sport Tourer (pictured on their site) for my two service dogs a GSD and Hyper Springer without any problems and can't recommend them enough.

They are both very strong and light and I was able to lock my dogs safely inside and leave the tailgate open whilst I did some quick shopping, safe it the knowledge that they were getting enough air and no one could mess around with them.

And best of all they are sought after on the second hand market too. I sold mine after 18mths daily use and only lost £100 which can't be bad.
