Release bearing is the most likely problem followed by DMF issues. John

The duel mass flywheel is actualy two wheels in one in a sence,designed to take out the pulse generated from the engine when running.

Oops, forgot to get back on this. Thanks for the tips -- the dealer also suspected it might be the DMF. Hopefully it was just a faulty unit -- I don't want this kind of issues every 3500 km. |

Just an update, had the car serviced and got it back last Thursday. Took them more than a week because they were unsure about the DMF and had to ask all the way from the manufacturer whether it needed replacing. End result: they replaced what sounded like the entire clutch assembly but left the DMF there because it was within the specs according to their discussion with LR.

Does it really matter spelling is not everyone's strong point, I know it's not mine, I really don't think they need pointing out to people in an atempt in belittling them |
