Scotland 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red

Vehicle has now copvered 60K ('08) and still gives me 42mpg during the summer (it was at 43.5 after 250 miles when I dropped it off at the stealer today). This can drop to 37mpg in the winter (winter of 09/10 especially bad) ... returned 39mpg this winter. Most of my driving is open road rural so plodding along at 50 for 10 miles or so on an 18mile run isn't unusual. Going home one night I filled up and the last 12miles achieved 57mpg! .... if only 2008 Freelander2 GS TD4

Mine is nearly six months old, done 4000 miles, and it's got slightly better it's now running around 30.1 mpg but was out with a friend of mine last week who had a loan freelander same age but it was an td4 s auto and that was doing 33 mpg
Thought my manual should have been better

I'm disappointed when I don't get 40 average on the trip computer on a tankful (volume calculation is always a bit less).
It's been as high as 46.4 and as low as 34 but given the gov't figure of 37.7, I'm well pleased at 68,000+ miles and flawless winters when I've always got to client locations and back home...whatever the weather
I bought FL2 after Discoverys for this very reason and with the VG Turbo engine and lighter body, it's fun to drive as well. Gone... 2013 XS TD4 Manual Firenze Red

I've been really disappointed in the diesel consumption since we got the 2008 HSE Auto last year. Admittedly we do a fair few shortish runs (around 5 miles or 9 miles is common) but there are some longer runs included as well and even on the motorway at 70-75 mph consumption doesn't go above 32mpg. Running around locally it's under 30 - sometimes 27.5

We're not speed merchants but there ARE hills in Cornwall!

Previous BMW 530d with similar usage did mid-30s, with 40 plus on the motorway. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne

That's good considering the circumstances you mentioned. I do 16 miles to work each day which is mostly a blast down the A38. Trouble is I have a lead foot and do not drive economically at all so I get mid thirties or sometimes low thirties Rolling Eyes LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

I have been driving it like an old woman....I've not gone above 50mph and not
above 1750rpm .

I also removed the Land Rover cross bars and the Atera cycle carriers.

With the price of fuel am quite pleased with that...I can only get 18mpg
out of the Audi...when the wife needs the Freelander back i'll be going to
work on my bike...

Recently I had a loaner whilst my 08 manual was in for service. They gave me a '59 S TD4e. Couldn't get it below 40 mpg no matter how I tried! Ended up returning it with more fuel in it than when I started! Bit of a bummer! Big Cry 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

My 2008 GS auto is still improving at 21k.
just did a trip of 200+ miles and returned 42.9 MPG. Just couldn't crack the 43 MPG.
I thought 42.9 over 200 miles was very good but that was driving like a nun and cruising at 62mph on the motorway. As soon as you creep to 70 it will drop to 37 avg and if you cruise at 75 it drops to 33 avg.
Still when I filled up it was great to see 575 miles on the range appear Very Happy

I have certainly noticed the effect of outside temperature on mpg.
During January and February our weekly 250mile motorway round trip was returning 37-38 but during the recent heat wave it was 40-41. Exactly the same route and driving style same.
Incidentally I find the variation in deisel prices almost unbelievable and I would love the suppliers to justify them. As far as I can see the garages will charge whatever they can get away with.
In the midlands around our home town it currently ranges between 143.9 & 148.9.
In Surrey in a 3 mile radius it ranges from 144.9 to 149.9. however on the M1 it can be 156.9.
Also why are they allowed to price at 0.9p it is ridiculous when it is impossible to pay 0.9p! Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?
