Not sure if your warranty is from LR, but i would call in and have a word with the chaps at Team Valley, great team of guys and very helpful, they should be able to advise |

Yer I thought that was fairly cheap but then LR want a whole lot more, I know they have overheads but so do all the independants but thier fees seems to be half LR fees which I feel is a total rip off, let us know how it goes |

Thanks for the reply guys, done what you said and it is like a volcano going off in there, whining like a b*tch to, the garage i bought the car have told me to ring back on monday and they will get the part ordered and book me in, im hoping this is going to be done under warranty as ive only had it a week, do i need them to change the pump, and reservoir as i have a feeling they will want to do as little as possible, also do you think that getting the car undersealed could have brought this fault on or is it probably just a massive coincidence??

Having a car undersealed, although it should not be necessary with a modern car I dont think, should not have anything to do with or affect the steering components and should certainly not have got into the hydraulics/filter. |

Yes mate i had all this done a few weeks ago. you need a new steering rack, pump, reservoir and new fluid plus the motor will need 4 wheel alignment done after the steering rack is replaced. I see NO reason why you wont get it done under warranty but as with all warranties they will do as little as possible, this means they will probably just change the blocked oil resivour and flush the system. A recon rack, and pump would set you back almost £500 with the VAT but new parts your looking at £700 + then theres the labour.

Well seems like the garage is gonna foot the bill, (so they should) think it will be just be a new pump/reservoir, hopefully will be sorted soon If you read this (toeknee) spoke to the lads at team valley land rover and got a worst case scenario price off them, rack/pump/reservoir/wheels realigned etc £800.00 didnt think this was too bad would rather not have to fork this out from my own pocket but at least i know ill get a decent job done, thanks for all the help and ill keep you updated, oh by the way it my first freelander 2 and i love the thing. Cheers |

Its hard to say at this stage but as you have just bought the car then they should put any problems right for you under their warranty. I would however make a note of anything you feel is going wrong with the car "Time / date it, keep a record of it and report it to the garage and if its still not corrected then keep going back to them untill you are satisfied. Its always a good idea to keep your own records for future reference |
