Unlocking the doors, double press, all doors unlock, no problem.

Now, unlocking the doors, single press, driver's door unlocks. Get in, drive away, stop and get out but all doors unlock.

Unlocking the doors, double press, all unlock, drive away, stop to let the passenger out, she opens passenger door and all doors unlock.

Is this normal or programmable or whatl

I think the one-two press on the fob is programmable. Also the automatic locking of doors whenever getting to a certain (slow) speed is programmable. It's never too late to learn something new...

The fob is programmable so it unlocks all doors with one press.

You don't need to double press to lock all doors. The second press stops any thief smashing a window and unlock the doors that way.

The doors automatically lock at a certain speed.
It may be that it can be programmed from the dealers to stop this happening.

My thoughts is that it's for the American market to lock doors on the move. I had a car which I bought a car alarm for which was made in America and it did the same thing also.

Sound normal, you can disarm the double press to unlock all the doors should you want, there is a thread on here on how to do it, so then all the doors unlock with one press.

The double press to lock, double locks the Freely so the doors cannot be opened from the inside and also arms the alarm, whilst also shutting down the electrics, the single press to lock does not alarm the Freely so you can leave Fido in the back and the alarm won't go off. It has been said that the double press feature should stop the electrics running the battery down, me personally have never had any battery problems though, maybe because I double lock it any way.

Thanks for the replies. It's just that on my late Disco 3 and on my Golf GTI Edition 30 skyrocket opening a door from inside when they are all locked only unlocks that one door, not the whole car.

So, single press doesn't alarm the vehicle, just locks it ? I thought it did everything apart from enable motion sensor.

It does Ian , single press locks and alarms the bonnet, tailgate and doors externally, ideal if you have your dog in the car. The double locking enables the motion sensor and doors cannot be opened from the inside, just in case they break a window to attempt a door opening.

That exact thing happened to me with a Passat Estate. Broad daylight, Makro car park. Jemmied the driver door lock to drop all the windows, reached in through the rear door window, tipped the seat back & took laptop etc from boot.
