2nd Service at Copley: FollowUp

hiya all, this is just about .. What Happened Next

As previously written i had a disasterous time at copley when i went for my 2nd service last month.

As suggested by one of you here .. i contacted Perrys, who own copley and also rockamore, or whatever they are called.

took 3 e-mails , but eventualy i got a reply from the dealer principal at copley.
He says .. the mechanic who worked on my car is no longer working there ... mmmmm
and he would like me to return my car to them so that they can re-check that everything that should be done, has been done and they will also valet it.

When it's been done i will give a follow up to this follow up ..............

derryk My First Fl2 and it is a 2010 GS Auto in Grey
with Nice Leather and the Stereo
even has headphone sockets in the back.
Wish it had a heated screen tho..
Traded in a Fl1 for this.
Got a georgous Black SoftTailed Harley
for when the days get warmer .. Do days ever get warmer in Lancashire?

If your ever in doubt about what your service centre has actualy say they have done then just get a invisable ink pen and ultra violet light, mark the air filter and position of the oil filter housing etc etc.
When you get your car back check with the ultra violet light for the marks you first put there and if there still there they havent done what they said they have.
simples Thumbs Up

hiya superspark, that is definatley one way of finding out whether things are done or not .. after what happened at my last service, it's hard to know if to trust them or not .. it's sad that i have to consider doing something like this.....

makes a mockery of any Quality control system in place ! I was charged for an oil flush at one of my services but it was never added !
How do I know, well i had a hidden camera fitted with a view under the bonnet ! Very Happy
Also charged £460 for 2nd service that actually took 59 mins from the time it was driven in to the time out.All on camera with GPS mapping and time etc.
I was also advised that any updates would be downloaded ! but on the audio of the camera, this never took place as you can hear the techs quickly chatting about what bo Censored ks the service department offer to customers ! & the fact that no point in any download as it wasn't going to fix mine.

Having also had a service elsewhere , still with the list of faults on the service sheet, apparently according to the mechanic I'm an anorak & as for the towbar knocking ! what did I expect as they are not designed to tow caravans !

I have heard it all & quite frankly appalled !

Mark everything you can ! fit a hidden camera with audio ! even better, quite an eye opener Thumbs Up

Well derryk
i just didn't go back ! it was 60 mile trip to another dealer and waste of time. The dealer ship has since been taken over. It wasn't till i got home and watched the video that I could believe my eyes and ears from what i was hearing !
I have been unlucky as My FR2 has been the worst of any car I owned and had been indispiute with L/r for a long time about getting it put right whilst under warranty so didn't want to upset the apple cart with my video !

I still keep the video's for a rainy day, one I have lost on a damaged hard drive but the other I have made back up copies & keep. may come in useful one day.

I just tend to vote with my feet. In 35 years of car ownership I have never ever had such a bad experience as I have with this one & I have 4 cars and change them usually every 3 -4 years.

seems some dealers, not just LR, don't seem to care unless they get caught.
good job they've gone out of buisness.

too be honest I'm not surprised and would actually have expected for you to see and hear much worse.

I think you are better not knowing what happens to your car after you leave it and not knowing what they talk about, as it will only upset you, and depending on your personality could cause big trouble !!

the mechanics in the dealerships are not interested/or respect you and your car, they only want their wages at the end of the week, so don't expect anything else.

Iain .. do you happen to be a mechanic for land rover ?

Fair enough they need to get paid .. and to be honest i don't realy care what they think about me .. but i do expect them to do there job properly 'coz that is what they are paid for... and yes i guess you have guessed my personality type..

complaints to .. manager, service manager, senior manager, owner, franchise owner, every web site possible, then sit outside the shop every day with a sign and shouting out the faults at potential new customers ... heheheheheh

I work for the health service.. personal contact with people everyday .. I'm expected to do things right, i expect myself to do things right.... What is wrong with everyone else..?

I once had a C Class Mercedes and booked it in for a service (oil change - check up) and was quoted £245.As it was so expensive(10 years ago) I thought I would mark all the bolts holding the plastic undertray beneath the sump. When I checked after the service, I noticed that the undertray had not been removed. So, fuming, I marched back into the service department determined to sort it out.On the way I spotted a mechanic and asked him if you can change the oil from the top of the engine, and he said they suck it out via the dipstick tube.I was really glad I asked that question before blowing my top in the service department. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys
