2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e S Manual Stornoway Grey
Calling all Apple experts... I'm stuck!

Bought my wife a 4th gen Ipod shuffle for Christmas and have only just got round to installing it. I already have an older generation Ipod and an Iphone 3gs, both of which work fine on my PC (old Win XP PC). I have updated to the latest Itunes version. The problem I have is that I get an error message: "USB Device Not Recognized, one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it", whenever I attach the shuffle. Have taken it back to the store where I bought it and they got it working on their PC, but still no dice on mine. Anyone got any ideas as the Apple website is c^&p and the relevant forums are full of pimply adolescents talking gibberish! Getting annoyed with it now as I don't have the patience I had when I was younger, I just want stuff I buy to work.

Thanks, but I've looked at that. Didn't seem to tell me anything other than to update Itunes and check my cable was in properly, both of which I did and still no joy. Don't know if it's an XP issue or a driver issue maybe, just wondered if anyone else had had the same prob and knew the fix.
Cheers.

Maybe USB port on old PC is Ver 1.1 and latest Shuffle requires Ver 2.0??

Usb 1.1 and 2.0 can understand each other perfectly, only difference is the speed.

May i suggest you pop into your local O2 store and see one of their 'guru' people. In the past they have helped me with my Apple products.
Is it just me- i find anything other than the straightforward operation of apple products confusing. Also dont like it when all of a sudden all your contacts disappear if you dont get it quite right when syncing phone.
PS you dont even have to be an 02 customer to see the guru. I found the guy in the Darlington branch extremely helpful. Thumbs Up

I have had the similar thing happen, especially if using the USB ports at the front of a PC, have you tried using one of the USB ports on the back of your PC Question

Spent 2 hrs on apple website going through some long winded checks. Now think I have a driver issue on my pc which would probably best fixed by dumping it in a skip and buying a mac.
