Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone knew the parts number for the spare tire retaining bolt. I used the jack today (actually for a different car, not my LR2) and as I was re-securing the spare tire in the LR2, I tightened the bolt too tight and it ended up breaking.

I can get the remainder of the screw out with an extractor, but I can't seem to find the part number for the retaining bolt.

Any help would be appreciated. For clarity, here's a photo of the part I'm referencing:

I'd just buy a length of threaded bar and screw your top cap and spinner on . B&Q should do it.

If my Spare Tire Retaining Belt broke my trousers would fall down.

agree threaded bar should do the trick. I assume you can get metric bar over there? At work

I'm sure I can find some metric threaded bar somewhere, though I suspect most places around here will sell such hardware measured using imperial units.

Does anyone know the size I would need? 10mm, maybe?

For what it's worth, has anyone else found that you have to screw on the bolt very tightly to avoid extra vibration coming from the subwoofer? I actually thought my subwoofer needed replacement (it sounded like a blown speaker) but when I removed the covering it turns out the spare tire housing was vibrating a bit and reverberating through through the trunk/boot area. I had to tighten the spare tire bolt to an extreme extent to get the vibration to stop.

Not a problem, really, but that's how I got into my current jam.

and talking about reverberation, the centre dash speaker when hiked up in volume makes looking through my rear view mirror impossible, its a complete blur

EY, is yours a GS spec? Is it supposed to have a centre speaker, don't think mine has one

Not a problem, really, but that's how I got into my current jam.

I heard somwhere you cant just use a length of threaded rod as if you look closely it's actually a double helix thread, not usually available from your a hardware shop. Also the boot floor support is not screwed on but a press and glue fit to a spade end I think.
