Just for info the auto box is brilliant, and clever so it can not be abused in the same way that a manual can, I towed our beemer up a hill with a hill start ,in the snow , with no probs so a caravan would be childs play. ref acceleration it's a Freelander not a Porsche but the Command Shift mode on the auto will let you manual shift faster than a manual box, you would be surprised what you can leave at the lights using that mode 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . I may be somewhat biased but I have owned 2 Freelander 2 manuals and have extensive knowledge of 2 Freelander 2 autos which get some pretty heavy offroad use and have to say that all 4 are very reliable and probably the most reliable of all the current LR/RR range. There will always be problems with any complex mechanical vehicle and to those affected they are a serious pain in the neck, but in my opinion there are no more with the Freelander than any comparable vehicle. |

I bought my 08 manual at 3 years old/75k and with a tow bar fitted already. It had full LRSH, used as a leased company car by a company owner selling upmarket conservatories. It was clear it had been a motorway mile muncher. Single socket towing electrics revealed it had only towed a trailer, not a caravan. LR records confirm the clutch is original. It certainly does not reveal its high miles when driving. I tow a 1450kg caravan with no problem. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

You must remember there are 3980 members on this forum, if 20 (I am guessing) have had gearbox problems, then possibly 3,960 haven't, you won't get people posting saying "Hi, no problems with anything this week", otherwise it would be boring. I had a seized brake caliper on my 09 model, but that doesn't mean they all will when they get 3 years old. Test drive one, then you will know. 09 FL2 HSE auto Lago Grey 71 Triumph Stag 3L 68 NGTCV8 3.5L |

that's a good price for a service and mot from Halfords pcheaven, were you happy with the work/service ? and were you not tempted to go back to the main dealer for a service and mot ? Iain |

I paid not much more from a main dealer for a major service and I at least know I have a stamp in the book. Well worth the extra 50notes!!

yes - very happy. they adjusted the headlights, tightened a track rod end, and replace a rear light bulb all for free. finished on time, even let me provide my own oil as mine was £5 cheaper! would never consider a main agent when car is out of warranty. |

yes that would seem to be about the norm for a dealer. Iain |
