As you undo the cap it becomes slack, this is to release any built up presure in the system, It then goes tight, this is a safty feature to stop you unscrewing it all the way and blowing off the cap causing scaulding and damage to you and the car.

Hi, my cap is also very tight, as I discovered when I had the low coolant light a while ago.... I topped it up with antifreeze but had to so again a couple of weeks ago (tho not by much) I suspect I have a slow leak somewhere, hope the rad was not damaged at Bala! I will keep an eye on it until the next service in June..... JT

NPinks, I did not want to dilute the protection in the middle of winter so played safe........ JT Upgraded to an ex demo, 7 mth old, Rimini Red/Ebony Napoli Auto HSE on 28th Jan 2011, added roof rails, mudflaps and side strips.

I'll let the dealer sort it, as I don't think you should mix antifreeze Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

you shouldn't mix antifreezes of different specifications, Land Rover will have several approved suppliers, but there should be no problem getting a litre of Texaco or Havoline XLC ( then you keep the colour the same) from a Texaco garage or indeed your dealer, dilute it 50/50 and Bobs your mothers brother etc.... (ps serious note keep antifreezes well away from children and pets - MEG is both sweet and toxic ) 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles .
