Power steering do i........

As many of you know my beloved car has developed the lovely power steering whine. Land Rover are not interested in helping to pay for there little cock up. So i got a quote from an independant LR dealer today, £600+VAT for new rack, pump, reservoir blah blah blah.

Now the dilemma..... Do i wait for it to completly go pop, Just get it done ASAP? Its still working after all, its just ever so slightly annoying!

If the whine has only just started are you sure the rack needs replacing as well? Freelander 1 TD4 HSE - gone, 2 weeks after the Cat.Converter!

I had the reservoir replaced then had major issues with the rack locking solid for a second or two whilst driving.
It was a frightening experience that I wouldnt want to repeat. Shocked

If you can afford it change it now.

It will only get worse and the last thing you want to happen is a lock up followed by a nasty accident. It will need more than the rack replacing then.
