I've got an XS as I like the sat nav, part leather seats, leather steering wheel, puddle lamps and would probably go for the same again. I also had an SE which was effectively replaced by the current XS.

I vm do think that the XS offers the best value for money. However, they are like ' rocking horse ' to find used, in my expeience, which is why I ended up with a HSE. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

My XS came with full leather, heated, electric seats, 18" wheels and tints. It's a nice spec and I am very happy with it. It was just over a year old, under 11000 miles. And it is stop start. |

I think it all depends on what comforts you like. My view is if you are spending that sort of money get the best spec you can as it is easy to say not that one cos it costs more then live with it for a while & wish you had a few extra toys. For £24K you will get a 2010 HSE. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

I'm happy with my XS but, given the choice again, I would add extras to a GS to avoid wasting money on the built in sat nav, which is hopeless and antiquated in comparison to a decent TomTom.

There's nothing wrong with the satnav, as built in units go. It's just that it's a bit clunky and in comparison to a top quality portable unit, it's rather like reverting from a Blu ray to a Betamax!

HSE for me! Leather, heated seats, heated screen etc, etc. Very comfortable and a dream to drive. You should be able to get a good 2010 model for around £23k from a LR dealer with a reasonably sound warranty. 2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles.

Going back to the original post, you may find that the eD4 is as rare as hen's teeth:

Go for the highest spec you can afford, my first one was a HSE and I would have another one tomorrow. Gone, 2007 TD4 SE Auto Baltic blue, clear side repeaters, full sized alloy spare.

I've re-read the original question and I think I completely missed the point!
