Been a loyal customer with 'More than' for the last 9 years and my renewal went up by £90 - I questioned it like you do and it was the usual garbage about having to pay for whiplash claims etc. Loyalty means nothing as they need the money for all the adverts that are on the TV Evil or Very Mad. Moved to LV this time (yes they are on the TV too but not as much !) with a saving from my original quote of £68. But do check what your covered for as they are not all the same, don't just change to save money, make sure your cover is equal or better Thumbs Up

I had exactly the same problem with Churchill last year. Despite my 3rd year bonus it jumped up by £200! After much digigng AXA were triumphant and I saved £300 over staying with Churchill who wouldn't budge on price saying they were hard hit by new guidelines etc etc. Good customer service so far from AXA and my cover includes lost keys as well. I never intended to leave Churchill because I was always happy with their customer service and prompt payout when a Focus I had was written off in 2006 but I could not afford the price jump.

Give AXA a try Thumbs Up LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

haggle

I've been insured with "More than" for several years. When they offered my latest renewal there was a 33% price hike. I called them, asked for an explanation, and got the expected broad justifications. Haggling politely resulted in just a modest and acceptable increase, so I stayed with them. Have been with LV for a few years now but always shop around. Year on year they have been the cheeps and with best cover. Due to some voluntary work i do I enquired about what would happen if I had covert blues and twos fitted in order to be tasked to emergencies by ambulance trust - reply was after a few minutes checking "as long as the responding is in voluntary there is no change to premium". I am 41 year old with full licence etc living in east anglia - can't fault them...

Was with co-op until they hiked premium 2 years ago, switched to RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) was £21.67 per month and only increased marginally for Mercedes. Self and 1 named driver. Both with bus passes.

Read an interesting article "Which" I think. Premium is higher for garaged vehicle than if left in own driveway. Many claims for damage in/out of garage and to garage itself. Safer in driveway. All FL2's (3) Gone

Insurance companies run crazy sales schemes! Although not for car insurance... When I renewed my house insurance the company upped the premium by around a third. I checked the comparison sites and the same company came in at the old price for the same insurance. I rang them and they were not able to reduce their price to meet their advertised web price. End game - cancelled insurance and re-brought it through the web and I assume they paid the commission to the comparision site! CRAZY.
BTW had the same issues with car insurance although they were at least honest enough to admit that they were relying on customer inertia to pay the increased premium and did meet the web price on the phone.

I was with More Than for a number of years but they messed up when a woman ran into the back of me. I lost most of my no claims bonus even though they said i wouldnt because it was protected and it was down as 'no fault' for me. They kept saying that they would send me new paperwork with the correct NCB on and they never did.
I escalated it to 'English speaking people' and got part NCB back but i had been driving for over 20 years (continuous insurance) and they put me back to 6 years NCB. I got sick of speaking to Indians with appalling English so ditched them and then when they did that with my NCB, i moved.

Swiftcover comes up cheapest for us at the moment. Been with them 2 years now on both cars Thumbs Up

Another plus about Swiftcover is, you don't have to speak to people. Do it all online and print your certificate yourself Cool 59 TD4e XS in galway green

NFU . they have real people answering the phone. actually sat in a regional office nor far from you if you want to go meet them.
they give 2 years GAP insurance on your car for free

And best of all If you have a claim they actually pay out

but even NFU has lost its friendly manner a little , If you do claim now its done through central claims hotline not through the local office. Although you can still phone the regional office for a little advice on how to 'word' your claim for best results At work
