If landrover offered a long term warranty like kia or a 100,000 mile or life of the car like vauxhall do now then I think they would go bust in a very short time. land rovers are not the most reliable cars as I have found out time and time again. Ive never had any other make that has let me down so many times in a few short years.

If it helps your decision making in any way, our SE is now 5 years old. We have renewed the warranty yearly since the LR warranty expired and about to do so again. A new suspension rod, new Traction Control Module, new sunroof (or parts) to stop the roof rattle have all been paid by the warranty co. The TCM alone cost more than the cost of the warranty, so all in all, we are quids in each year. Glad we kept it going.

It really depends on what your car is like? Lots of warranties promise you the earth but never deliver when you want to claim... The select warranty from land rover doesn't cover all the things that your previous warranty did.. |

The standard warranty on the Land Rover is very good by mainstream standards. A great many manufacturers run to 3 years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes sooner). The Land Rover warranty is 3 years, unlimited mileage. Even manufacturers like VW, Skoda and Honda will limit their warranties to 60,000 miles. This is important to me as my contract hire is for 3 years and I will achieve 90-100,000 miles in that time. Incidentally, the first 7 1/2 months and 23,000 miles have been completely without fault, not bad for a manufacturer that many people love to pan.

Because they would prefer you to buy a new one I think? I remember back in the 70's when warranty was only 12 months and no options to extend beyond that. I used to get a letter from the dealer after 10 months recommending I buy a new one, before things started to go wrong and cost money they said, so whats new? ![]() |

What's new is, now you don't have to wait 12 months before it goes wrong |

If you do need the extended warranty the LR one should be hassle free. Just had one of the horns replaced on mine - dealer noticed it and said did I want to do it as the part was cheap but the labour would be expensive. Went home, thought about it, read the warranty booklet |

Be very very careful about extended warrantees, took one out on my Kia Sorento only to find it does not cover electrical faults.

Don't want to get in to a heated debate here, although it could be quite easy to do that. Do I detect a hint of contradiction in your statement? I thought the Sale of Goods act was good thing.. especially, when "some have justified grievances" which manufacturers will not address at all, or at best will only accept a limited liability.
