The locking wheel nuts are going rusty , they appear to be chromed steel. Anybody else have this feature on a 6 month old vehicle ... that rust sets off the alloy wheels so nicely

I have the same. I took it back to the dealer about a month ago. The said they'd dealt with them, but I think they must have just cleaned them a bit, as they are going rusty again.

I'll go back to the dealer in the next couple of weeks, and update you with what they say.

Same here and mine is only two months old. To try and stop the rusting I smeared the locking wheel nuts with grease which now attracts all the road dirt which makes the alloys look even nicer
On this point I think Land Rover should compensate us somehow! The effect of the otherwise nice alloys look really grotty  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

My car now nearly 7 months old and my wheel nuts are as new from the day I bought it.........no rust or tarnish. ______________________

Using alloy wheel cleaning products which usually contain phosphoric acid or a precursor of it is the most likely culprit as it will attack the metal that the locking nuts are made from, and will be retained within the convolutions of the labyrinth of the locking nuts. Even more worrying is the possibility of fracture of the nut when removal is attempted due to metallic crystalline failure brought on by the acid attack.

If anybody is still unable to get the locking wheel nuts exchanged on warranty

Mine are the same. Bought in July 07.Does anyone know the official line on this

Same problem here. Spoke to dealer who is going to get them replaced for me this weekend.

We had our rusty nuts replaced by the dealer FOC. Car nearly 12 months old
