Help & Advice on what tyres to go for

Hi, I'm new to this site and i need to replace two tyres size on my fr2 2009 hse td4e. The two pirelli scorpion zero 235 60 18 r 13v's are down to 2mm. I purchased the car 2nd hand so i assume these were the original tyres having covered 26k. i use the car to tow caravan. any other suggestions/recommendations for replacements. Confused Confused

Hi Phil and welcome Thumbs Up
Goodyear Wranglers were a LR std fit a while ago, now they seem to mix between Pirelli Scorpion and Continental cross contact so agree at that mileage you should be on the original tyres. I recall someone on here saying it's what ever deal the tyre manufacturer will do LR at any particular time which sounds a very reasonable comment.

I changed rims a while ago from the old style to the new style HSE and as the sales were tyre/rim packages I got chance to do a comparison. Went from Scorpions to Continentals and I can say that the continentals are far quieter and I like them better.

Something a bit more agressive = General Grabber AT they get a very good report on here.

(BTW They will be 103V's which is the speed rating)

I'm sure you'll get lots more recommendations (Including from one member 'To sell the caravan' - I say keep it and enjoy Thumbs Up )

If your looking for long lasting and very good all weather, the Good Year Wrangler will take some beating, not the cheapest but should last you for the next 35k

If you're only changing 2 tyres I'd probably go for the same again.
Pirelli tend to be the OEM tyres on HSE and Continental or Wrangler on the rest but as mentioned it seems to depend on who is doing the best deal at the time.
I run Continental on my XS 17 inch rims as they were the OEM fit. Out of preference I'd go for Wrangler.
LRE Freelanders run on Pirelli and they cope with everything that gets thrown at them.

Goodyear Wranglers for me every time. Good all year round grip in all conditions and quiet on the motorway. I managed to get up and down steep snowy hills on Sunday in full control when many other 4x4 were struggling. - 2007(57) XS Auto, Rimini Red, Alpaca Leather.

+1 for Goodyear Wranglers, I have now done 15,000 miles and service check sheet states 6mm depth on fronts even wear across and one 6mm and one 7mm on the back even wear across, and I tow a van in summer.

Good for another 15,000 miles. Thumbs Up

On that very subject, the folk at Carrs LR in Truro reckon that last year (snow even in Cornwall Big Cry ) Freelanders were their best performers. Maybe it's not all down to the tyres Thumbs Up Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
