2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Indus Silver

HELP brand new FL2 in limp mode !

Hi all just got my new fl2 SD4

Drove it 50 miles and its gone into limp mode?? Land rover assistance sent out the AA who couldnt fix it. So the current state of play is they are currently sent out a lorry to pick it up to take it back !

Do you think i should be looking at rejecting the car??

Hope you do not have any future need to call LR Assist.
If you do: unless desperate say you are willing to wait on a Land Rover Technician, they come in a Diso with computers etc and can recalibrate/reset ECU problems at roadside, they also phone and arrange hire car.
If they transport car to LR dealer the dealer has to answer to LR customer service and also have a strict time limit to complete repairs or the hire car charges are paid by dealer not LR.
End result a much quicker turn round monitored by customer service. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

It depends what the diagnosis is, I would wait and see first, it may be something silly and a simple fix.

Horrible thing to happen though, I hope they provide you with a suitable replacement in the interim period and it is sorted quickly, you will enjoy the car

you wont be able to reject it on one breakdown anyway, it has to be some sort of repetitive seemingly uncurable problem.

Tech guy will probably find a faulty component and it will run fine after.

Shame on a new car though, dampens the enthusiasm somewhat At work

Dis it give you any warnings for fuel shortage first? It may of turned the turbo off to conserve fuel.

Nope no sign had 1/4 of a tank ! They are having a new dosco 4 HSE on its way to me

Not so. Thats is how the dealer interprets the law for their own end.

All saleable goods must be of 'a merchandable quality' and 'fit for the purpose for which it's intended'.
So, for example, if you bought a deep fat fryer form Argos and it wouldn't heat up to temperature, you'd be either entitled to money back or a replacement. Not to get someone to pull it apart and try to fix it.
That is part of the Sale of Goods Act.

But because you've spent £30k's or so, rather than 30 quid ......... the rest you can guess.

In law, makes no difference if you spent a quid or a million. If it doesn't do what it says on the tin, then the seller must abide by the law.
Once you enter in agreement with the seller to allow them to fix it, so be it at your peril.
And it can go on and on.
I had a similar problem with a new R75 with a squealing clutch and i didn't let them fix it and got a new car later although i had to wait. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Ok so the fault code is a DPV (dpf) problem p244a

How could it go so wrong after just 60 miles?!?

I hate dpf full stop. Next car i buy will be petrol but that doesn't help you.
You have to make up your mind pretty quick. As i said before, once you allow the dealer to try and fix it, you've changed the terms of the contract.
At present, the terms are the dealer supplies to you according to the Sale of Goods Act. You are within your rights, if not satisfied, and the goods are not of merchandable quality, which is the case, to a full refund or replacement.
The dealer will of course try to bend over backwards to fix it, but if you agree to this, any rejection of the car or a refund becomes almost impossible Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

you cannot reject the car without giving the dealer a "reasonable" chance to fix it.

I agree with Iain, I read an article recently that said that with vehicles the law leans towards the dealer and rejecting a car, whilst not being impossible, is far from easy. You also have to give them the opportunity of fixing the fault, if after two or three attempts the problem is still there then you can start the rejection process.

Hopefully your fault is a dodgey sensor or something trivial. Just remember to plan a route of fuel stations when you go out in the Disco, mpg isnt very good! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black
