Unable to open boot.

In 38 years of motoring had something happen that has never happened before, I was in Newcastle on saturday and although it didn't snow it did rain ice, this covered the FL2 with a sheet of Ice. I had to go to the boot to get something and found it would not open, you could hear the lock working but it would not budge, at first I thought the rubbers must have frozen, but it turned out that water had run down the tailgate and pooled on the bumper, this had frozen and there was a ledge of ice preventing the tailgate from lifting. A kettle of water along the bottom of the tailgate sorted things out.
Anyone else had this problem.

I suppose the solution to that is the often "shown in photo's" boot attachment which makes the door shaped to match the bumper mouldings. Thumbs Up 2002 Honda VFR800

Thanks geoffk, hadn't thought of that one, perhaps LR should engineer better drainage in this area, I have noticed when you wash it water always pools along this area.

I believe there are drain holes at either end of the ledge - might be worth checking if you have them and whether they're blocked. 2002 Honda VFR800
