Battery charging

Being new to Freelander (less than a month), I was interested in the thread relating to (HDC not available), in current cold spell. Decided first to charge battery, but reading dire warnings in Manual re: charging with battery connected, would like to know if this is a problem. I would use a CTek, which has never caused a problem on other vehicles.

Seems you are equally doomed if you remove the battery

Advice please. Caravanners get hooked

Just put the ctek on, it will be fine! I do it every day in the winter and many different cars at work with no problems

Bob Marley and the Whalers were famous (rightly so) for jamming - and BMW still are - in snow, or rather they prefer walzing. Battery full charged or not!

Thanks to ad & athelstan, but two things:

1. Many years ago I went off roading with Fronteras, and managed to get downhill without HDC (the low ratio box was useful)

2. I ran BMW's thro' the last two years snowfall with winter tyres (amazing what you can do with the right gear)

Joking aside, I am sure I will be grateful if I ever go to the Sahara! Caravanners get hooked
