Clutch Vote

With some members having new clutches and/or /Dual Mass Flywheel, I though it might be an idea to have a vote to see how widespread the problem is.
This vote is obviously limited to those with a manual gearbox! Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Keep your votes coming folks!
I shall ask Pug 4007, Mits Outlander and Citroen Crosser forums to do the same.
We all have the same PSA engine/clutch/dmf. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

That's what i call bad luck! Or bad design.

I've had a word with Pug 4007 forum and they are prepared to back up our numbers the clutch/DFM issue.
People power I hope!
Looking at our own vote, it's quite shocking. Of course, PSA arn't alone with this problem, but by now they should have come up with a permament fix. Which they have'nt.
This problem is not going to go away Big Cry Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

So far 42 manual owners have voted with 11 failures. That is a high proportion.

If I was a prospective buyer I would be afraid, very afraid, in fact I would now recommend an automatic. A Land Rover owner since 1988

From a 1974 series III to a 12MY XS FL2 with help of a 1995 D1, 1996 D1, 2005 D3, 2007 D3 and a 2009 FL2.

Mine started going at about 3.5k miles. Eventually managed to get dealer to strip the car down. DMF had started to go and burnt the clutch in 3 places. Had the new clutch and DMF for 2-3k now and not sure if it is starting again. Just don't trust it. Was informed it took a while to get the new clutch and the old one had been superceeded. Does anyone know if this was a re-inforced clutch for the evoque that is now coming down to the Freelander?

These are truly rubbish results for land rover. Can we send a link to this poll to the md? I for one don't really trust my fl2 not to go wrong in this area again. Nigh on 30% of poll respondents having had new clutches is appalling, this must make the vehicle not fit for purpose. If my clutch went just tootling round the roads I don't holdout much hope if I were to take it off road. That would make mincemeat of it. Starting to think about a skoda yeti as clarkson did say it was the best car in the world!

Clutch Issue - Slipping 4th, 5th and 6th at max torque (1900

Car going in today for investigation. Likely come back wear and tear but I will not be accepting because
1. 29500 miles on first set of tyres (all round - all be it due for replacement soon)
2. brake pads and discs like new (ie no wear and tear)
3. not even average miles for a 2 year old car
4. never replaced a clutch in all my years of motoring and high miles vehicles
5. i do not ride the clutch nor do i change gear unless its necessary
6. I do not sit in jams nor sit on the clutch at junctions
7. No other driver except dealer... in early days
19500 motorway miles, no towing, no offroad (ex demo from dealer)
Nov 2009 Reg
FLRSH
1100 to 1300 cost to me if fault with me to wear and tear. Await outcome today Monday 30 Jan 2012.

Update to follow.

LR have taken full repsonsibility under warranty. A failure of the clutch plate (I am awaiting more details) means full replacement ofclutch and flywheel due to due todamage as a result of the failure....

A 30% failure is disturbing to say the least.
I shall forward the results to L/R later this week.

What is also worrying is that some owners may be out of warranty. I don't see why owners should have tp pay; L/R are justified by putting a claim on PSA, but that's not our problem.

As far as i'm aware, L/R are still fitting the same parts which no doubt will fail again.

P Censored s poor if you ask me! Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
