Despite having upgraded the bulbs in my "projector" lights I'm still not happy. I'm now considering a couple of powerful driving lamps mounted on the front. I have in mind something like these :

I fear that you are right about the bumper. It seems pretty flimsy. Any light bar would need to be attached to something a lot more substantial. If all else fails, I may have to go down the HID route (but I have a weakness for big auxiliary lights stemming from my distant club-rallying past) The map is not the territory 2011 TD4 GS Manual - Gone 2014 SD4 XS Auto - Gone 2018 Jaguar E-Pace R-Dynamic 180 AWD |

saw one on the bay of Es that fitted under the front grill or you you could get a custom one made up.

other than the roof or a roof rail / rack, the only way i can see is to find a stronger mounting point behind the bumper, and run some sort of bracket through a cut out in the bumper.

Good point, the thing i miss about the Defender is that over the years I had various Hella and KC daylighter driving lamps fitted to the a frame ? is there a variant of the Freelander Bumper Styling kit that has light brackets, I would have thought that long distance lights were a must for parts of Australia and the USA. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

I looked in to this a while back, even lookrd at using the Disco 4 spots, but got no where with it. as you say theres no where to fasten them to on the bumper. I upgraded the bulbs with Osram Nightbreaker plus which seems to have improved thing, but I have a 07 model which are non projector |

Don't bother buying spotlights unless they are Lightforce genuine spots, the best spot lights money can buy. They don't rust and they are super bright

Must admit that the spots looked photoshopped on the FL2 in the catalogue, I think it's showing the look rather than the fix. |

+1 on the Lightforce lamps. I had them on my Defender and they were awsome! I had the 170 lamps which were incredibly bright so God knows what the 240s are like. They are virtually indistructable, don't rust (polycarbonate) adjustable for beam pattern and the big bonus is that they weigh very little.
