Are the Tyres(or wheels I should say)rotated at service time ?

They should rotate all the time not just at service time  ______________________

It used to be the done thing but has gone out of fashion perhaps due to the proliferation of "directional" tyres. John

I did read somewhere months ago that it is frowned upon now? Not sure though.
As Simon says not much use on a 4x4 they should all be pretty similiar really so no real point

Unlikely land rover will do it, as they service boys are numptys. I rotated mine tho, front ones wear quicker

very true! as rotation required swapping sides not just front to rear - that would mean our tyres would have to be refitted to the wheels to keep the 'rotation direction' correct.  2002 Honda VFR800

Tyre rotation

Many tyre manufacturers agree that it is no longer good practice to rotate your tyres in order to extend their legal life. The reasons for this are;
Partly worn tyres are more likely to experience punctures – particularly in wet weather conditions.
Front tyre deflation will create an under-steer effect which is easier to control than over-steer (the effect produced by a rear tyre deflation)

In the unlikely event that a tyre deflates suddenly, then it is easier to control the vehicle if this occurs at the front of the vehicle. For improved handling and stability it is now recommended that the ‘best’ tyres should always be fitted at the rear of the vehicle. This is irrespective of whether the car is front or rear wheel drive.

Because of this at Kwik Fit we do not recommend tyre rotation and we do recommend fitting your best tyres at the rear of the vehicle. If you are replacing a single tyre then this should be paired with the rear with the tyre having the most tread depth. There are some circumstances when this advice does not apply, such as;
Where front and rear tyre sizes are designed to be different
Where a vehicle is designed to have directional tyres at the front and asymmetric at the rear

Recommendation from all sources is that the most worn tyres should be on the front.

If the rears are wearing out faster than the fronts then you have a problem.

Only time to move back to front is when you put new tyres on.

My owners manual indicates that the tires are not to be rotated.

I think that was an instruction on a circular that went roundabout the dealers as it turned out, created a bit of a revolution as it depended on which way they originally revolved.
