Althelstans car is out of warranty, so wouldn't matter. .

Her Ladyship's FL2 is under the original warranty which expires at midnight on the 20th November 2012.

After that I will investigate the cost of LR-CH's extended warranty plan as at present she still envisages that she will keep it for a fair number of years.

Gentlemen
All your observations and appraisals are most welcome on this subject of a heated steering wheel for the FL2. Thanks.

Bearing in mind that just when her Ladyship said she liked the feline 2011 front bumper vis a vié the 2010 bullish nose but never referred to the 2011 FB after I had it fitted for her, she's never mentioned a heated steering wheel since that first winter's experience. Therefore, given all the intricacies of doing a HSW conversion I'll just keep quiet and not mention even the prospect of it being remotely possible.

That's exactly why you need one here in CH because the cost of any repair work or just parts over here sends any able bodied humanoid into immediate cardiac arrest - then the to cap that off the hospital bill will ensure your fatal demise (once they've scanned your credit card or billed the health insurance company) Thud

Hi Mounty
Checking the specifications here in Switzerland that luxury is not available. What Model Year and specification is your FL2 as you may be able to fit a heated steering wheel from a D4 or RR to your FL2. I'm no auto electrician so there maybe someone coming along to say that this is absolutely not possible, or to confirm that it is.

However, it can be the case that when I comment on something a witch hunt follows, usually because they haven't read thoroughly what I've written, maybe something to do with alpine atmospherics....... Not the FL2's sound system kind either Wink

Where are you located in CH?

I'm in 4123 and you? I'm going to change to a Free 2. Not brandnew.

Thanks for all your answers. The RRE has it. So who is giving a go with a D3 sterringwheel. At the D3 forum they do impossible things Bow down I'm sure we in the same spirit Smile Daniel

Ahhhhhh heated steering wheel. Disco4 I had last winter had one. Wish it was a Freely option.
Is it an option on the evoque?

It is MM and standard on some though I find the HVAC system so good you probably wouldn't need it.

It's also not possible to fit the Evoque or any other model to the FF2. Even if you did use CG's engineering skills. There is far more that would need changing than just the column and electrics. Software would be the biggest problem to overcome and believe it or not...........braking systems mechanicals!

Thanks Heliosuk
"Braking Systems Mechanicals" - that settles it - her Ladyship is getting a new pair of winter gloves next Christmas.

She's getting enough new toys to play with this year. This week alone she's depleted my pension portfolio of a further 70k on a new Ultra Sound Scanner from GE Medical. Delivery set for late June. So it is, and remains, a pair of gloves Twisted Evil

Behind the times again LR.
I do not know what the situation is in Blighty re new car warranty but here the German big three all offer as standard 5yrs and 100,000 kms. Volvo do more - 10yrs and 150,000kms. All four inclue free servicing during their warranty period.

Add to those Europeans the Asian 4x4 (Kia - Subaru - Lexus) who all offer a longer and more comprehensive new car warranty and you can see that LandRover are way below the benchmark in this area of customer support. Big Cry
