They do look nice and are very good tires.
What size are they? cos I had to buy the new general grabber A/T's as the AT2 aren't available in my size.

Here is mine with AT2īs 255*55*18. And Volvo alloys.

Not much noisy at all. Great tires!

Replacement Tyres

Hello,
It looks like I need new tyres this year and I'm interested in upgrading if worth it.
I don't live in a snow risk area at the moment (maybe moving to scotland in 2013 though) but do plan a few motorway journeys.
However I would like to do some mild off roaring so wondering if General Grabbers are going to be over the top for me.

What are they like in normal road use compared to the OEM Goodyear Wranglers.??

Thanks

Gary

Had them on my FL1 for a couple of months before trading in for a 2.

I liked them. No noticeable increase in road noise. Not sure about the grip on slightly damp roads, maybe I was just going a bit to quick but I had a small slide!

When I see a definitive answer about fitting 255 on 18inch I would definitely have them again.

Hey Gary - Jersey to Scotland? That will be some move! Cheshire to Cornwall last year still feels like a full body transplant Razz

By the way - can you really do MILD off roaring? Sounds a touch violent to me......

Good luck with the move if it happens (we've still got unopened boxes here).

I too will be interested to see if there's a definitive answer to fitting AT 255s in place of 235s. I'd love to get back to Grabbers - had them previously on Pajeros with 15" wheels and they were brill.

gary..

I've had the new grabber A/T's on mine since around May/June last year, hardly any difference in noise, or handling, i've never had any grip issues either, there is probably less contact area on the road compared to your own tyres but the only difference i've found is that they displace standing water alot better than the conti's that were on mine.
If i still have my FL2 when these wear out i'll buy grabbers again (unless BF goodrich make A/T's in my size by then!!)

Great looking tires. Based on the experiences in this thread I purchased a pair of the AT2s for myself (was talking to D99 about them earlier). I went for the largest tires that would fit to give the FL2 more clearance: 255/60R18.

Here's a photo:

Overal great tires, though the sidewall is weak and it does reduce your fuel efficiency a bit. Posted a full review about them here: http://sam.odio.com/2011/11/29/review-gene...tires-lr2/ Installed a hitch, stock roof rack, mantec skid plates, General Grabbers AT2 255/60/R18, and a rear access ladder. Also made a hitch-mount for the winch. Looking to install a front hitch, rooft-top basket, and lift kit.

You can get even slightly bigger tyres without problems - 245/70 R17 (245/65 R18) Thumbs Up. After installing a lift kit I will try 265/75 R16, which should work.

@Martas, interesting, my 255/60R18s rub on the sidewall slightly when making extreme turns. I figured once I lift the wheels 20mm they'll be perfect.

How are you planning on lifting your FL2? I'm starting to look into a solution now... Installed a hitch, stock roof rack, mantec skid plates, General Grabbers AT2 255/60/R18, and a rear access ladder. Also made a hitch-mount for the winch. Looking to install a front hitch, rooft-top basket, and lift kit.

I will have polyurethane spacers (20mm front / 25mm rear) soon for achieve more clearance, some photos from installation and experience will be added to my gallery Arrow http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic10278.html
Spacers should be made next week....

255 tyres are too wide for offset of standart 18" wheels. I'm using 245/70 R17 on standart LR 17" wheels without spacers for more than 3 months and there is no rubbing at all. There should be even more space in fenders after lift.
