How much can you haggle for a new FL2 ?

Hi,

I was at my local dealer today with a view to trading in my 08 FL2 GS , (excellent condition, roof rails, cold climate pack, bodyside mouldings, 19 " alloy wheels, 60,000 miles) for a new one of the same specl. The cost of the new one was just what the price list stated. How much can you haggle the price down? Is the new car market good enough that dealers can say "take or leave it" They offered me £12,000 trade in

Very Happy

Hi,

I thought £12,000 px Very Happy was quite good? I got an online value a couple of days ago which was less.

Sounds like a good price to me. I was told mine is worth £18k, 10 plate 17k miles (pretty much same spec as yours).

As for haggling, by the time I had finished haggling and got £1500 cashback, I got £22k less my FL1 part chop.

The reason I got £1500 cashback is because Stratstone put it through as a fleet car for my employers. Didn't effect ownership and my employers didn't need informing or need to authorise it.

My employers are public sector and deal with people who don't obey the law Whistle LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

5% discount should be easy, also hit them hard on the cost of any extras, the dealer makes more on those so should have more room to manoeuvre.

Or give in and buy a used RRS Thumbs Up At work

If i want to trade in the only thing I ever ask is " How much will it cost to change ? " the list price and the trade in value are to some extent irrelevant , and at any time you never know what the dealer has in his pot to play with , so rather than have them playing a confusing game of numbers with you , ask as may dealers as possible including online dealers that question, then it's a case of reducing the lowest cost to change by going around and around the dealers untill the point they tell you to get lost !
