United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver
Thieving Ba***ards

Our ownership of a Freelander came to be when the Defender 90 which we had owned from new for 13 years was nicked from home. That replaced a Defender 90 that was nicked. Two weeks after our last car was nicked they tried to take the next door neighbours Defender 90 van ( ignoring other big ticket motors) and possibly because of the big electric gates were parting it out on the drive, despite the security lights.

Last night they came back and despite the neighbour's D90 now being in a garage with electric doors, security lighting, alarms, and the electric gates, this morning they found the door forced , bonnet up, and battery cable cut ( no doubt with the bolt croppers that removed the 10mm hardened steel pins on our wheel lock). ??????

This is just getting bloody stupid, West Yorkshire is a hotbed of Organised Landy Theft and plod do 2 parts of Censored all Big Cry

I'm having 14'x'6 steel gates installed tomorrow, I've got alarm mines on trip wires, alarms and security lighting, I'm now considering having secondary locks on the garage, but nothing seems to be a deterent..

If only I could catch these C Censored s at it and I'd invite them to " Say hello to Mr Mossberg...... " 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Brother in law has lost two 110's in last three years in Lancashire.
Plod reckon they are very easy to strip apart and off to Africa as spares.

Agreed, plod are complete numpties, probably have to wait for a risk assessment before they attend anyway.
It's ridiculous that th victims are the people who loose out in other ways, extra costs of security, additional insurance, not to mention the heartache.

Hope you get it sorted and some justice.

It's a Defender and farm machinery thing around here, we insure through NFU as " Countryside Members" and they tols us premiums are rocketing because of this, mind you they are still the fairest insurer I have ever dealt with and you pay for what you get with them 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

We use to own a German shepherd which was the size of a pit pony, never had any problems when it was alive. We now have electronic gates, security cameras and a picture of the wife on the garage door. (sorry Chris) Wish we had the dog back

Thumbs Up my other half had few when she was playing at the "good life" they kept everybody away, unfortunately at the time the UKs largest mink and fox farm was at the top of the valley ( now closed), and we became sort of a " fast food outlet for escapees" . We had a couple of Peacocks too but sold them as i got fed up with driving two miles to collect the cockbird when it went visiting, they were good noisy things, i wonder what the rules for keeping Leopards are ? 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Smart Water is great ! I've used it and also DataTag on bikes, and my lad's 650 is tagged, chipped & micro-dotted, even the bloody Labs are micro-chipped Rolling with laughter ,

I'm hoping that the Freelander is not a "stealable" motor as the professional Defender thieves seem to exploit the Meccano qualities of that car, and the fact that they are the utimate run for ever car. I've not seen any threads in this forum about theft so fingers crossed. When the defender replacement comes out I hope they do something to make it much more secure, but we won't be goig back to one.. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

thieving scum.. Evil or Very Mad
maybe worth installing some heavy duty security bollards,
ive seen hydraulic bollards that are operated by key fob, specifically for driveways etc.

They are not popular on this forum, but there a thousands on the road in the UK usually been driven by wanna be F1 drivers or complete bum oriffices'

I am a big fan of German engineering having had several V Dubs in the family, I considered a BMW estate but was not impressed by the drive, if they started making a front wheel drive ( apart from the Mini ) I might take another look, for 4 wheel drive they are not in the same leauge as LR. What if there were no hypothetical situations?
