United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

There are loads of BMW for 2 reasons, 1 they are good 2 they incetivise fleet buyers ( I think my employer get 20% discount + 1/2 price options and free paint)

I've had rear wheel Drive BMW for the last 8 years, they are great high mileage diesel cars, my first 3 coupe did 125k miles in 3 years and drove like new when it was swopped, the 5 series diesel was fantastic and again100K plus in 3 years with no warranty work, now I spend most of my time in the airport the milage has dropped to 13kpa but when I went to pick up a new set of Freelander 2 wheels i took my beemer, 52 mpg at 80mph over a 400mile trip... fanatastic gliding along at 2000 rpm , and RWD is a pleasure for 9 months of the year

what they need to do is fit the x drive to 3 and 5 series estates, no silly ground clearance, not a "soft roader" just something like audi quattro diesels and create a car that will do the other 3 months, and tow a caravan or horse box 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Have you considered fitting a tracker or some type? I expect the insurers might insist on your next one if they are getting nicked that often, or your premium goes sky high?
Or you could fit a locking valve to the fuel line under the car to stop the fuel flow, or drain the fuel off so its empty, they would never nick it then because it would cost a fortune to fill it up.
or fit a removeable steering wheel and unscrew the gearstick after leaving it in reverse, Idea

I just will not buy another Defender period, and a tracker is only any good if there is someone to follow it up, the police are as much use as a chocolate fireguard around here. I found a card in our door late last night saying a " scenes of crimes " officer had come out to insoect our garage following the break in /landrover theft but could not contact us -

derrrrrr - that would be because it was next door it happened then ! the landrover on the drive and garage door ripped off its tracks might be a clue... wouldn't happen on CSI Miami

our insurance has nearly doubled with NFU, but to be fair they paid out £9k on a 13 year old car and the new one is worth twice as much so we are sticking with them Thumbs Up 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Our ownership of a Freelander came to be when the Defender 90 which we had owned from new for 13 years was nicked from home. That replaced a Defender 90 that was nicked. Two weeks after our last car was nicked they tried to take the next door neighbours Defender 90 van ( ignoring other big ticket motors) and possibly because of the big electric gates were parting it out on the drive, despite the security lights.

Last night they came back and despite the neighbour's D90 now being in a garage with electric doors, security lighting, alarms, and the electric gates, this morning they found the door forced , bonnet up, and battery cable cut ( no doubt with the bolt croppers that removed the 10mm hardened steel pins on our wheel lock). ??????

This is just getting bloody stupid, West Yorkshire is a hotbed of Organised Landy Theft and plod do 2 parts of Censored all Big Cry

I'm having 14'x'6 steel gates installed tomorrow, I've got alarm mines on trip wires, alarms and security lighting, I'm now considering having secondary locks on the garage, but nothing seems to be a deterent..

If only I could catch these C Censored s at it and I'd invite them to " Say hello to Mr Mossberg...... "

Are you of good character ??
if so apply for a shotgun license and ask the Chief Constable to sign it for you as his lot don,t seem to be interested in doing anything about it .
(better still don,t tax it then they can keep it in a compound free of charge just take your tax disk when you want to use it ..)

Seriously might it be better to move ... or just buy a BMW x5 they will never nick that ...to common ..!!!! Wales

GOOD QUALITY CCTV. IT comes to something when we have to go to drastic measures. I fitted it when my bmw was keyed in broad daylight.
Ever since then its protected all my cars and has caught many crimes with nearly all of them being prossecuted. A driver who thought he could get away with hitting my partners car and driving off had a nasty shock when confronted by police.
Thought he got away with it untill the officer told him he has seen the cctv footage lol.
Although its cost me a lot of money its been worth every penny and will continue to protect my cars.
Just to finnish off. Theres nothing better than seeing something that has been done when your not there or asleep and knowing the little gits are in for such a shock. since I fitted cctv the crime rate has dropped as they now seem to go some where else for their crimes, great, just the ticket. Thumbs Up

Camera are not the answer to everything, the offender could have there face/head covered and without being able to recognise or identify them you have no chance of catching them. Trackers are good, the police will be interested if you speak to the correct area within.

My only problem with a Tracker is that I don't want a car back when some scrotum has stolen it, unfortunately we live in a semi rural location which is isolated and a magnet to scrotes and and when our Defender went in June it had been stolen in a very specific manner which removed all security. I've since found the best Defender bet is to fit a £300 locking non return valve on the clutch ( or on the brakes Thumbs Up which is not approved in the UK) and you leave the car unable to move under it's own power

And do i believe the police are interested ? nope not a chance, they don't give a toss about recovering anything, and by the time they have their arse in gear the tracker will be disabled the car in a container or on the ferry. In Halifax you will be lucky if their are 6 real plod on shift at any time the rest are Blunketts Bobby's civilian clerks, and christ knows what

What I want to see is plod patrolling in big cars and random stopping and pro-actively preventing not detecting after the event ...... rant over 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

We need more cops on the road, on foot, being seen by joe public. Calling the police 'filth' is juvenile, they are a victim of this government as much as anyone and there are bad eggs in every box as in any organisation. The police have to manage their time in the 'best' way possible, although I wouldn't agree to that statement for the 6 points received in 6 months this year. Mad
Resources are limited, the numbers need to double, we get one patrol car down our 'close' annually but luckily crime is rated zero where I live, probably because there are better pickings in Hull 4 miles away. No-one should have to go to extreme measures to protect their property.

The Police! Ha shower of no good fools.
When we had one of our defender vans loaded with tools, trailer loaded with bricks etc taken on a busy street, driven past the police station , they still could not stop it let alone recover it. To add insult to injury, they took it off of the stolen computer two days later and left it off for six weeks.
You think they deserve respect! Blooming useless public drain on funds! If I ran my business like they carry on would be in more mess than the Government! Sad
As for slang names for them, they are all very much right and deserved.

Oh yer, more police on the streets. The police have got their hands tied so tight behind there backs that if they farted too hard they would fall over.
Our lovely governing body" those in number 10, they know who they are" have turned our country into a NANNY STATE abd the crooks know it.
Just for good messure they go and cut the amount of police on the street when in this day and age there are more and more people on the planet with so many more out of work and dont want to work " oxygen thiefs " are loving the fact that its getting more easy by the day to commit crimes and are loving it.
It dont too many brain cells to work out the outcome. Bring back national service and hard labour camps. Thats the only way we are ever gonna break the cycle Banging Head
